*Color is in this season of fashion, and we’re not talking threads.
Earlier this year, diversity on the runway was a hot button topic. It looks like more brands and designers are heeding to the public cry for more color on stage.
At the Victoria’s Secret fashion show earlier this week, we couldn’t help but notice the various hues of brown, modeling the lingerie brand’s finest designs.
Among the stars, were returning supermodels, Joan Smalls and Jasmine Tookes, who both participated in last year’s extravaganza.
Victoria’s Secret also blessed us with the a diverse group of Black women, of different hues, including French model, Cindy Bruna, who’s mother hails from Congo.
Maria Borges, a stunning 5’11” beauty strutted down the runway like she owned it. This fabulous Ford Supermodel comes from Angola is represents well.
Making headlines, Kenyan-born biracial model, Malaika Firth also made her Victoria Secret Fashion Show debut. This 19-year-old beauty made waves when she became the first model since Naomi Campbell in ‘94 to be the front-runner for a Prada ad.
You go girl.
The show was very exciting and pleasing because we saw women from all over the world. Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro stole it when she came out and Ming Xi, a hotly sought after Asian model brought the line up full circle.
Victoria’s Secret made it happen this year.
*Fashion never quits in New York.
Designers from all over the world came together for one weekend at the Lingerie Fashion Week 2013.
Here, some of the most creative, sexy and comfy designs for panties and bras were put on display. Attendees had the chance to interact with the models and the lacy undergarments.
I had the chance to speak to one of the unlikely stars of the weekend. Boudoir photographer Angelica Roberts set up a humble display of beautiful photos, capturing women of all different backgrounds, shapes, sizes, and colors. Initially, passersby only observed the pics. But delving a little deeper, we found out there’s a story behind each.
The photographer, who once struggled with her own beauty, was challenged with being a friend’s model. After seeing herself through the lens of another, she began to appreciate beauty beyond societal standards.
It was through photography she found her freedom to love herself and so she decided to liberate others in the same way.
Angelica photographs regular, everyday women in intimate form in hopes of reviving their confidence.

*The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community has their share of problems in mainstream society, but one problem can be checked off the list for transgender women…lingerie.
The Chrysalis line of lingerie has been developed for the transgender women by transgender women. According to The Daily Beast, the lingerie line, while it has been in existence since summer 2011, it will fully relaunch the line in May of this year.
The lingerie line was developed by Cy Lauz, an interior designer and fashion stylist, who made his transition into a woman in 2006, found a lack of undergarments that supported that transition. Lauz collaborated with Simone Tobias, who was also a transwoman, but also a creative director for a menswear company.
*Michelle Obama is being blamed for going on a $50,000 luxury lingerie shopping binge at a New York boutique.
According to rumors reported in the British daily The Telegraph, Madison Avenue was partially closed off for the first lady.
The publication pointed the finger at Mrs. Obama for lightly dealing with taxpayer’s money by going on useless shopping sprees.
“Michelle Obama has risked the wrath of cash-strapped Americans by indulging in a $50,000 shopping spree at Agent Provocateur… ‘Along with the Queen of Qatar, Sheikha Mozah, she closed off part of Madison Avenue to spend time in the luxury lingerie shop.”
But the White House issued a furious statement, denying the claims 100 percent.
However, the rumor turned out to be a positive for the shop, as it reported a significant increase in sales.
This isn’t the first time the first lady’s spending habits have been questioned. In the past the media has publically ridiculed Obama for her expensive taste and love for luxurious trips.

*There’s no doubt that raptress Nicki Minaj has curves to spare. Some folks believe she even bought some of them. In the end, her fans and interested onlookers don’t seem to care; they just like what they see.
Speaking of seeing, you can see what she’s working with in the new King magazine now on sale. And of course, we’ve got a lightweight preview for you right here (see above and below).
In the meantime, just in case you’re wondering what the almost platinum selling Ms. Minaj’s plans are as far as conquering the film world are, so did King:
King: History has shown that acting is the likeliest transition for rappers. Considering your background, do you want to dabble in Hollywood?
Nicki Minaj: Of course.
King: What would be your dream role?
NJ: I’d like to play someone in a Tim Burton movie, where I get dressed up and painted and crazy.
King: You kind of do that now.
NJ: Then I want to be able to do some action stuff, like Angelina Jolie.
King: Like in “Salt?”
NJ: Yes! And then I’d like to just play a regular girl who, you know, is facing the world. Something really sentimental and organic, that girls all around the world can identify with. You know,
how Jada Pinkett Smith did in “Jason’s Lyric.”
*The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has a lot of people leery and up in arms over their procedures, except a handicapped woman who wants as little trouble in airport security as possible.
To avoid the drama, she somehow stripped down to her bra and panties in her wheelchair and sat her dog in her lap. Interesting right? Much more interesting for the guy who taped the whole thing.
Tammy Banovac, 52, had been harassed by airport security before. She attempted to come through security several times. She figured if she got nearly bucky naked (Bernie Mac) this HAD to do the trick. (more…)
