*George Lopez ended his TBS talk show last night with celebrities, some choice profanity and that “creepy little white girl.”
After a bleep-filled opening monologue, Lopez ran through a collection of memorable moments from the last two years. His guests, including Eva Longoria, Arsenio Hall, Slash, and Lakers Ron Artest and Derek Fisher were on hand for the big farewell, with Longoria and Fisher getting their salsa dance on.
When Eva brought out a glass of wine, George told her, “Don’t spill wine on that couch. It’ll be in my house by Monday.” He then asked for a job on her soon-to-end show, “Desperate Housewives.”
Lopez wrapped up his show with thanks, first panning over the audience to show it was “inclusive,” and then gave props to one particular actress: “I wanna thank Sandra Bullock, who, 11 years ago, took a chance on me,” he said. (Bullock executive produced and appeared in Lopez’ 2002-07 sitcom, “George Lopez.”) “Thank you.”
Then the party came to a close as everyone jammed to Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Night.”
Adios, “Lopez Tonight.” And vaya con dios, George Lopez. We know you’ll be back.
*George Lopez’s late-night show on TBS has been cancelled, according to Deadline.com.
There was talk that the network was trying to dump it last year, but Conan O’Brien insisted that TBS keep Lopez so he wouldn’t be perceived as the guy who pushed him out. “Lopez Tonight” survived that round, but now the show, originally developed by Telepictures as a syndicated talk show, will end its two-season run tomorrow night.
“Lopez Tonight” has been struggling in the ratings, especially after moving to midnight last fall to accommodate Conan, recently averaging 400,000 viewers and a 0.2 18-49 rating for original episodes.
According to Deadline, there have been rumors that TBS attempted at one point to make the show broader and less ethnic. For one reason or another, both late-night shows with minority hosts, “Lopez Tonight” and BET’s “The Mo’Nique Show,” received pink slips within the past two weeks.
TBS said in a statement: “TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.”
*All you Neicy Nash fans who are looking forward to her upcoming wedding will be able to witness it on June 2 on TLC which is airing “Niecy Nash’s Wedding Bash.”
The two-hour special will follow Ms. Nash as she lays out her plans for her big day.
Niecy was on “Lopez Tonight” and told host George Lopez that freaking out over the upcoming nuptials:
“I’m a woman who doesn’t have a bride gene,” she explained. “Women who have been planning their wedding since they’ve been 3 years old, or you pretend to get married to your cousin in the backyard … I wasn’t that girl.”
And would you believe she blacked out after her fiancé asked for her hand. Yes she did:
*Tracy Morgan recited his one encounter with Michelle Obama during an appearance on “Lopez Tonight,” and although he refrained from his usual joke regarding attractive women – that he wants to leave them pregnant – his words were controversial enough to make today’s headlines.
The “30 Rock” star spoke about his visit to the White House for last summer’s White House Correspondents dinner.
While he didn’t perform for President Obama — “I would’ve killed myself if he booed me,” Morgan said — he did get to meet the First Lady.
“I looked at Michelle and she said, ‘Hi Tracy!’ and I just got hard!” Morgan said. “Michelle looked like a tall mountain, and I’m gonna climb it just ’cause it’s there. Kilimanjaro!”
Morgan has spoken about the President and his wife before. In 2009, he caused a scene at Carnegie Hall when, during a standup special, he made jokes about a White House sex tape.
“Obama is really changing the White House, because he and Michelle will have the first presidential sex tape out,” Morgan said to groans.
Morgan is bipartisan in his desires; he’s called Sarah Palin “good masturbation material” and “the hottest MILF in the world.”
*In case you missed Prince on “Lopez Tonight,” here is the interview as well as footage of his performances, including a rendition of James “D Train” Williams’ “You’re The One for Me” with Sheila E, his new song “Laydown” and his classic “The Beautiful Ones.”
But first, Prince sits down with Lopez to discuss his influences, how the Internet has changed music, and why he auctioned off one of his favorite guitars for charity. He also admits to forgetting the lyrics to his own songs.
