TriStar’s Elysium brilliantly addresses today’s social and political issues, arrives in theaters August 9, 2013
Matt Damon stars in TriStar Pictures Elysium.
*The year is 2154 and there are two earths “the haves and the have nots” in TriStar Pictures’ new sci-fi action film Elysium starring Matt Damon, Jodi Foster and Sharlto Copley.
Elysium is the first big budget TriStar film since their 1998 release of The Mask of Zorro. Neill Blomkamp brilliantly addresses today’s social and political issues – such as immigration – as the writer, director and co-producer.
Matt Damon is Max DeCosta who had a toxic accident at work and as a result developed a cancer-virus – he now has five days to find a cure. The cure is in a machine that offers instant cures location in a part of earth called Elysium, a space-earth located not far from above the earth – a hovering paradise populated by the rich. Elysium has high tech everything and is governed by President Patel (played by Faran Tahir) and Jody Foster is his Secretary of Defense assisted by a violent police force led by Agent Krugs (played by Sharlto Copley). DeCosta, due to anti-immigration laws, can’t go to Elysium to get the cure because he lives on the planet-earth, called District 9 – which is ravaged with the poor, over populated, disease ridden and ruined.
Fighting for his life, as the clock ticks, the journey begins as Max travels from Los Angeles to Elysium to find the cure. The journey is full of high-tech action and drama that will leave you on the edge of your seats.
Bill Block and Simon Kinberg co-produce the film with Neill, which will be shown August 9, 2013 in IMAX Theaters. Elysium is also co-produced by Media Rights Capital and Tri-Star Pictures.

*“I think with music it’s a lot more personal,” said Mack Wilds known as outstanding actor Tristan Wilds (George Lucas’ Red Tails, CW’s ‘90210,’ Lee Daniels’ ‘The Wire’) about comparing his passion for acting with singing. “I’m going to give the people the real me…who my family call Mack…right now I’m focused on the music.”
Mack is right it is maximizing those Hip-Hop/R&B vocals heard on this first single to his debut titled “Own It.” The single, surely a club-banger and spreading like wildfire on radio, is produced by Ne-Yo and Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys, Jazmine Sullivan).

There were people of all walks of life that decided to dedicate their life to giving back. From a homeless veteran who started an organization to assist vets with housing support – such as rent – that has become one of the largest VA housing assistant programs in the Los Angeles area is now housed on the grounds of the VA health facilities in Los Angeles. That organization was represented by its President and CEO Gregory C. Scott.
There was a lady who couldn’t cut the addiction cycle that involved jail time until she started her organization to help others like herself not only get off of the drug addiction path but set them up in housing and provide job assistant.
The stories continued as each was more outstanding and inspiriting than the next.
