*Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their 5th anniversary by renewing their vows at the Happiest Place on Earth: Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.
According to reports, the couple hosted about 250 guests for the Tuesday April 30 bash, which also marked the second birthdays of their twins Moroccan and Monroe.
Inside the “Dream Suite” near the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, the Grammy-winning singer and “American Idol” judge donned a princess-inspired bridal gown and, with daughter Monroe, departed via horse-drawn crystal carriage, taking them down Main Street — finally meeting Cannon and Moroccan (both of them wearing white suits similar to the Prince’s costume in Cinderella) at the Sleeping Beauty Castle. There, the foursome walked down the aisle together, with the twins eventually taking their seats in the front row.
After the renewals — themed “do you believe in fairy tales?” — the couple was treated to a surprise fireworks show. Guests then made their way to Fantasyland (escorted by Cinderella footman Major Domo) for champagne toast and reception, with Cannon DJing the night. The reception area featured 15,000 flowers and 10,000 crystals.
The entire park was closed to the public for the night so guests could ride the attractions without a wait. “Dem Babies” were the guests of honor earlier in the night, celebrating their birthdays at the Fantasy Faire section of the park.
Last year, the couple renewed their vows beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
”Summer 2012… Been in the lab, mixing up some concoctions for you, hope you like it!!” she tweeted. ”Still working in the studio with friends o plenty! I love this new song :)”
Mariah last released an album, “Merry Christmas II You” in 2010, and last December she collaborated with Justin Bieber on the re-release of her hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Her husband Nick Cannon previously revealed that their twins are inspiring her songwriting.
”My beautiful wife is planning to make her return to the music scene after taking time off to focus on the pregnancy and the birth of our two wonderful babies, Moroccan and Monroe,” he wrote on his official website earlier this year. ”She’s rejuvenated and ready to start sharing some of the amazing new music she has been making in the studio! Our new family has definitely given her a great new source of inspiration and creativity.
”I’m so proud of her and can’t wait for her to release more phenomenal music!”
“They are taking steps and figuring it out, but I wouldn’t say they are walking yet,” he told People.com of 13-month-old Moroccan and Monroe. “I thought walking was like, one day you stand then you just start walking. I didn’t know it was a process. There’s a lot of falling. They take a few steps and then fall and go right back to crawling.”
The babies are even in competition with each other. According to Nick, Monroe is taking more steps than her brother.
”Roc can balance himself a lot better. He can stand and bounce without falling for a long time. But Monroe takes more steps than he does,” said Nick.
*Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are headed to Paris for the first birthday of dem babies.
The couple’s son Moroccan and daughter Monroe turn one on April 30, and Cannon told E! news they’ll be overseas on the big day.
When a party at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France was suggested, Nick appeared to hint the speculation was right, smiling as he said: ”You’re good. You’re good.”
As well as being the twins’ birthday, April 30 is also Nick and Mariah’s wedding anniversary. As previously reported, Cannon recently confirmed they will again renew their marital vows on the day and promised the twins will be involved.
”We get married every year; it’s our thing,” he said. “I just have to keep doing it to make sure it’s real! It’s gonna be big. So it’s a family day. We’ll celebrate with them during the day and just the two of us at night.”
Mariah Carey performs during Escape To Total Rewards at Gotham Hall on March 1, 2012 in New York City
*Ten months after delivering twins Moroccan and Monroe, Mariah Carey hit the stage to perform at Caesar’s Entertainment Kicks Off “Escape to Total Rewards” at Gotham Hall in NYC.
Donning a skintight black dress and diamonds, Nick Cannon’s wife, with a full band and backup dancer, sang hits like “It’s Like That,” “Obsessed,” “I’ll Be There,” and a new version of “Shake You Off.”
“It’s my first performance since having dem babies!” the Grammy winner announced as the crowd cheered. (She and Cannon, 31, welcomed the little ones April 21 of last year.)
Having some trouble with her earpieces during the show, she joked that the devices were “fitted pre-baby…they don’t fit anymore!”
She gushed of her little girl and boy: “Do you love dem babies? Cause I do. . . I really wanted to bring them here tonight, but Monroe is sometimes shy and takes a while to warm up to an audience. Rock and roll! Nah, but it’s late. It’s time for them to be asleep.”
Regardless, she dedicated “Always Be My Baby” to her kids. [Watch clips from the concert below.]
