*Will.i.am says Google’s attempt at sharing music is wack.
The artist, who serves as the creative director at Intel, says the new music service has some issues and isn’t really a great model.
Called the Google Play Music All Access, it’s a paid subscription to music-streaming, something like Spotify.
“Honestly, I don’t really know what that means,” Will.i.am said. “Because they’re subscribing to sold music. What if I made a song and put it on the Internet tomorrow? Spotify doesn’t spot that. So, we live in this connected instant right now world. Those services are cool for songs that were for sale yesterday…Google owns YouTube. If I wanted to hear music, I’m just going on YouTube. So it doesn’t really make sense at all, actually.”
Onto other things will.i.am, the Black Eyed Peas frontman showed off a different flavor in his new time capsule music video.
In lieu of “The Great Gatsby” the movie, he went back in time, dressed in a top hat with tails and danced that old kind of stepping. Hence the pic above.

Idris Elba in a scene from the Mumford & Sons video for “Lover of the Light”
*Actor Idris Elba puts in double duty in front of and behind the camera for his latest effort – a music video for the folk act Mumford & Sons.
Elba, who begins filming a 3rd season of the BBC’s “Luther” this month, directs and appears in the clip for “Lover Of The Light,” which was shot in the Welsh countryside.
“We are huge fans of Idris’ work, as he’s the most bada** British actor since Richard Briers. So we trusted him,” the group told Britain’s The Sun. “We’ve been fortunate to work with some great directors but we’ve never really enjoyed being in videos. Talking to Idris and Dan (Cadan, scriptwriter) about making a video that we’re not in made it a lot more fun.
“They wrote the treatment after our ale-infused conversation in a pub in London. What they directed we are proud to present.”
Elba tweeted a link to the clip, along with the message: “I want to share this with you… I wrote & directed this video for Mumford And Sons. Very proud amazing song.”
