*Jennifer Garner is crediting Halle Berry 100 percent for the passage of a new bill in California aimed at protecting children of celebrities from the prying lenses of paparazzi.
In August, the two actresses testified before the California State Assembly Committee on Public Safety in support of Senate Bill 606, which imposes tougher penalties on cameramen who constantly tail public figures and their kids. The bill also makes it easier for parents to sue for damages over harassment.
Last week that bill was signed into law, and Garner gives all the credit to Berry.
“This is all about Halle,” she said on the Today show this morning. “I have to say, my husband and I, as much as we have wished for this, we truly were resigned to thinking that this was never gonna happen.
“We had looked at all different things: moving out of California, you know, all manners of things. I think that there’s an idea, that because our pictures are everywhere, that we’re complicit in it, when really what happens is they’re waiting outside our door every single day. I can’t go to the mailbox without getting my picture taken.
“What we’re hoping is our kids’ day-to-day experience will not be of really aggressive men yelling and screaming five feet from their faces. My kids take karate, for example, and we have our classes at the same time every week, so the guys know when we have karate and so 20 of them wait there for us, every single class. So that’s a lot of energy coming at little, little kids.”
*Uh, Kanye West might want you to ignore that headlock in the photo above.
‘Memba the video that showed Kanye scuffling with a photographer who tried to take his picture as he walked towards the exit of the Arrivals section at LAX last July? Well, he was formally charged earlier this month with one count of criminal battery and attempted grand theft. TMZ reports that if West is found guilty of the charges, he could face a maximum of one year in prison.
Now the hip hop icon, who continues to demonstrate that humility is nowhere in his DNA ( “I’m the No. 1 rock star on the planet”) has counter-filed papers that state he acted in “self defense.”
In the aforementioned video, recorded by Daniel Ramos, the photographer involved in the altercation with West, we hear the pap aggressively pursuing the rapper in an attempt to get him to talk. Moments later West appears to lunge at Ramos and overtake him in an attempt to retrieve his camera equipment.
The documents filed in court by the ‘New Slaves’ rapper state that it was Ramos who “willfully and wrongfully caused [West] to reasonably believe his safety was in danger,” and moreso, alleges that the hip hop star did only what was “necessary for his self-defense and safety and was justified in doing those acts.”
“He didn’t hurt the pap,” a source close to West told Us Weekly at the time. “They were just heckling him as usual. Kanye went to grab the camera and the guy fell being so dramatic.”
An arraignment is scheduled for October 10
Here’s the video of the incident that prompted it all:

*Kanye West has filed a response to the civil lawsuit from a photographer claiming the rapper assaulted him at LAX Airport and caused him bodily harm.
According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, West is claiming self-defense, saying that he believes “his safety was in immediate danger” during the July 19 incident.
“[Kanye] responded to this assault by doing only those acts that were reasonably necessary for his self-defense,” the response, submitted by West’s attorney, reads.
The new dad was charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft after he allegedly attacked videographer Daniel Ramos in July. If convicted, Kim Kardashian’s man can face up to a year in jail.
A video of the altercation posted on TMZ shows West accusing Ramos of trying to provoke him before he lunged at him. After the scuffle, West left the scene and an ambulance transported Ramos to the hospital.
*Lamar Odom will not be prosecuted for his run-in with a photographer last month, after reportedly agreeing to pay for the pap’s busted equipment.
Khloé Kardashian’s husband argued with the snapper in Hollywood last month. He was accused of breaking the man’s equipment and the case was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney for possible misdemeanor vandalism charges. (Police originally sent the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for possible felony charges, before it was transferred to the City Attorney.)
TMZ reports that Lamar has escaped any further legal trouble after reaching an agreement: The athlete will be required to meet with the photographer and a City Attorney hearing officer to discuss the incident and their “rights and responsibilities.”
The July 10 altercation was caught on video and kicked off when a photographer reportedly asked Lamar to respond to allegations he had been unfaithful to Khloé.
“I would never cheat on my wife, that’s why I wear my wedding ring,” he was heard telling the paparazzo, before asking the man’s name and adding: “I’m gonna step out the car and I’m gonna talk to you.”
There was then a break in the recording and Lamar was next seen holding the photographer’s belongings. When the man asked Lamar to return his things, the basketball star told him to “shut up” before handing them back.
Lamar has been accused of having affairs on more than one occasion.
Reality TV star Khloé has continued to show her support for her spouse, and when the incident with the paparazzo took place last month she hit out at him for allegedly trespassing.
“wow can’t believe a paparazzi snuck into our gated area and violated our private property!!!!” she tweeted. “This becomes stalking at some point!!!!! Its wild!!!! (sic).”
New parent Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West make their first public post-birth appearance to take baby North for a doctor’s visit.
*The paparazzi has Kanye West upset again – this time for nabbing the first photos of him and girlfriend Kim Kardashian with their baby North West since the little one’s birth on June 15.
He’s now determined to find out how a photographer knew to be waiting in the garage of a Los Angeles medical center for them to emerge…. And according to the tabloids, he’s pointing the finger at his in-laws.
Kanye “believes that a member of the Kardashian clan tipped off the photographer,” claims the insider. “It’s no secret that Kim works with several media outlets and has been known to tip off the press about her whereabouts.”
In the images (posted by TMZ), the couple’s nanny carries a covered-up North in her car seat, while Kardashian is wearing a basic button-down, black pants and brown boots.
West has an issue with the pics “because the photographer was in the parking garage of the doctor’s office. He feels absolutely violated and is just angered that their privacy was invaded.”
As previously reported, Kanye has his own plan for introducing North to the world: he wants the new family to grace the cover of Vogue.
