Downtown Detroit half-built jail site construction halted and now Dan Gilbert plans $500 million construction project that includes retail, parking, and housing.
*Detroit has been financially embattled for some time, so a bankruptcy seemed like the natural next step that no one wanted to admit.
But Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers who is also a native of the Detroit area, has swooped into the city and has purchased prime real estate in the downtown area since 2010.
Gilbert is also the chairman of Quicken Loans which he headquartered in Detroit and is now planning to go bigger and better. Where Detroit has a half-built jail site, Gilbert has planned a $500 million revamp of the area through his company Rock Ventures LLC that includes retail, housing and parking. (more…)
Trenton, New Jersey Mayor Tony Mack headed to jail on corruption charges.
*In the era of Kwame Kilpatrick, one would believe that other mayors would have taken notes as he fell from grace.
But, nooooooooo, some mayors have to learn the hard way. They have to, as my grandma used to say, be convinced that fat meat is greasy.
As the cuffs come out, many have been made believers in one New Jersey mayor’s administration.
Rather than taking a note out of Corey Booker’s record book, Trenton, New Jersey mayor, Tony Mack, 46, deferred to the book of Kilpatrick and was arrested for accepting bribes from an official.
The official was really a federal agent that Mack and his cohorts, his brother Ralphiel and Mack supporter Joseph Giorgianni, who is also a convicted sex offender, struck a deal with on a fictitious parking structure project, according to the Huffington Post. (more…)
