*The Ray J-hosted “Bad Girls All-Star Battle” drew record ratings for its premiere on Oxygen last month, delivering its highest scoring night in the history of the network.
The weekly competitions, featuring the best (or rather worst) ladies from the “Bad Girls” franchise through the seasons, can get just as ratchet as its charismatic ringmaster, who has had his share of out-of-control TV moments – mostly on his VH1 series “For the Love of Ray J.”
The artist, currently working on a new album titled “Raydiation 2,” says the showbiz Ray J is not always the William Ray Norwood Jr. one would encounter when the cameras stop rolling.
“There’s a Ray J character that people see,” he told us. “But I think when people start talking to me or hang out with me or understand my story and where I come from, you get a whole new side of who I am.”
Below, Ray J says that his success in music and television boils down to one thing — taking risks.
“Bad Girls All Star Battle” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Oxygen. Watch a promo of Tuesday’s episode below.
*Brandy is apparently happy and about to tie the knot with her fiancée and stud of a man, Ryan Press.
And little brother Ray J approves. The man kept it old school in a way, and asked Papa Norwood for permission to propose to Brandy. He even went a step further and asked for little bro’s blessing.
“I’m really cool with dude. He hit me like, ‘Yo, I want to ask your sister to marry me. Is it cool?’ He called my pops and all that kind of stuff,” Ray J told Power 105.1.
He continued saying, “ We grown. As long as she’s happy, I’m happy. I’m always there for her. I’m always her third eye if she need me.”
Brandy has yet to reveal a date and plans for the wedding, but fans are expectant.
“I’m ready to get it done. I’m not trying to be engaged for a long time. Ain’t nobody got time for that,” Brandy told Sister 2 Sister earlier this year.
As far as Ray Jay’s love life, he hasn’t denied rumors about dating Teairra Mari. “She’s with me all day,” he said about the singer. “We been rocking for a minute, and she’s been supporting me. I have nothing but love for her.”
*Oxygen has brought back 14 standouts from its “Bad Girls Club” franchise to battle each other in a series of over-the-top challenges – to test both brain and braun – for a $100,000 prize and the title of “Baddest Bad Girl of All Time.”
All this – with Ray J serving as the host.
“You have every popular girl from each season – the all-stars – to come together to battle, to live in one house and to compete for a whole lot of money,” said Ray J of “Bad Girls All Star Battle,” premiering Tuesday, May 21 at 9 p.m. “It’s intense, it’s emotional, it has its elements of drama – but also it has a lot of substance.”

Ray J says one of the bad girls comes back as a single mom hoping to win the money so she can give her daughter a better life, while another wants to use the cash to help her brother get out of foster care.
“So when you watch the show and get inside these girls’ heads and watch their backgrounds and what they’re there for, it’s just a different kind of connection,” he told us during interviews for the show. “You kind of fall in love with who they are.”
Returning for the cash this season are franchise favorites Danni, Erika, Flo, Gabi, Jenniffer, Judi, Julie, Mehgan, Natalie, Paula, Raquel, Rocky, Shannon and Stasi. In Tuesday’s premiere, the ladies will split into two teams of seven and choose a captain in the “Back Off Bad Girl” challenge, where they’ll compete gladiator style on a floating dock armed with battle guards. The last one standing from each team will be named captain and receive protection from elimination.
Later, in the season’s first Team Challenge, they’ll race through an obstacle course – over The Weave Wall, through a swamp in the Caboodle Carry, past the Web of Lies and into a muddy Bar Crawl to the final puzzle. The losing team nominates two players from their crew to go up for elimination, while the winning team gets immunity, a night out at the club, and the chance to vote out a player.
Below, Ray J, who starred in his own VH1 dating series “For the Love of Ray J” for two years, explains what makes him the perfect host for “Bad Girls All Star Battle.”
“Bad Girls All Star Battle,” premieres Tuesday, May 21 at 9 p.m. with a special 90-minute episode. Beginning Tuesday, May 28, the series will move to its regular time of 8 p.m. ET/PT. Watch a preview and clips below.
*”Singer Bobby V is a sex machine, like his songs say. He’s the latest celebrity with a sex tape out there in the public arena. The XXX video is several glorious minutes of Bobby doing his best impersonation of Ray J, ahem, getting it on inside a hotel room while filming himself at the same time. Specifically, Bobby and the naked video vixen kick things off with some very specific touching … before diving in to the full on sex. The video is on sale now! But it’s not clear if Bobby knows it is.
*Usher will be the spark for Macy’s 4th of July fireworks show. The singer will collaborate with Macy’s Inc. to create the concept, music and design for the fireworks, which will be launched from barges off Manhattan. This will be the first time the company has worked with an artist on the concept for its annual show, Macy’s said Thursday. Not only will Usher score the music for “It Begins With a Spark,” which will feature his songs, hits from Rihanna, Swedish House Mafia,Jimi Hendrix and Frank Sinatra, but he will also provide visual design cues and direction for the pyrotechnics that are choreographed to the musical score.
OK, let’s back up a quick minute ’cause when it comes to Ray J‘s “hit” song, “I Hit it First,” his dig at former flame Kim Kardashian, which he tries to deny, a lot of folks, especially adults, think the song is a waste of time and that he should just move on.
Well, one thing it’s seems to be good for is parody material. Yep, that’s right, a parody video has surfaced on YouTube featuring a poor man’s Morgan Freeman impersonator reciting the lyrics to Ray J’s song about Kim K and kanye that he insists isn’t.
Anyway, the parody, found on the YouTube channel ShotOfLiquid, under the banner of “Morgan Freeman’s Poetry Corner” depicts a cartoon character version of Freeman sitting in a library complete with a fireplace while wearing a robe and holding a glass of wine as he reads, er, recites the lyrics of the song.
Good Lord, just the thought of Moran Freeman reading, er reciting the lyrics of “I Hit it First” is enough to make you wanna bust a gut. Hey, we bet Ray J is laughing … all the way to the bank. So check it out and let us know what you think.

*We sat down with Ray J so he could explain the reason for maintaining this odd charade that “I Hit It First” is not about Kim Kardashian.
The video, released online today, has resuscitated buzz about the tune thanks to the Kim Kardashian lookalike starring as his love interest. Throw that in with the pixelated photo of the real Kim on the single’s cover, and it’s quite obvious who the song is about.
“It started out as just a song I recorded,” said Ray J, 32. “I’m independent so it kinda leaked and created this stir all over. So, we put it up on iTunes and it debuted at No. 3. We’re in good shape.”

Ray J doesn’t admit that this kabuki theater surrounding the song is designed to avoid possible lawsuits from Kamp Kardashian. Instead, he explains that “I Hit it First” was written in a way that allows listeners to draw their own conclusions.
