While tech has been getting many of the headlines lately, it’s tourism that drives the San Francisco economy. More than 16.5 million tourists spent nearly $9 billion in San Francisco in 2012, according to the San Francisco Travel Association.
*We are becoming an increasingly more violent nation as our society exhibits a desensitized disposition to their fellow man.
But in an ironic twist to the apathetic behavior, tempers rise quickly and much more deadlier than ever before with little to no reason to spark the fury.
Barry White Jr.–no relation to the late great r&b legend–was charged with first degree murder, among other charges, for the double homicide he allegedly committed in a Victoga jewelry store in the GiftCenter & JewelryMart complex on Brannan Street in San Francisco last Friday.
According to the report from ABC News, White had a dispute with a store employee over the charge for jewelry he had purchased from them weeks before and wanted a price adjustment of nearly $300.
Obviously, they denied his request and he left and returned with knives and guns and the entire ordeal was caught on three of the store’s surveillance videos. (more…)
*Asiana flight 214 that crashed at San Francisco International Airport on July 6, is obviously no joking matter, but apparently has become racist fodder for some news outlets.
Two girls were killed and numerous others injured in the crash that was a major headline for newspapers and top stories for networks.
But when California’s bay area news station KTVU reported the pilots of the plane as “Sum Ting Wong,” “Wi Tu Lo,” “Ho Lee Fuk” and “Bang Ding Ow”, professionalism along with any remnant of respect for the news channel were obliterated.
*The gang bangers who allegedly jacked 2 Chainz at gunpoint in broad daylight in San Francisco tweeted a photo of his driver’s license and his VISA debit card as proof.
But the rapper still maintains that he was not robbed, insisting that someone must have picked his pocket, and that’s how they got his credit card and ID.
2 Chainz, real name Tauheed Epps, said previously that the robbery didn’t happen because his personal property didn’t show up online.
On Tuesday, the folks who have his ID and debit card tweeted the below pic of the evidence along with the caption: “That n**ga #2chainz said he never got robbed out here in the #Bayarea.”
But, what you didn’t count on is that your super duper cell would also make you a prime target for theft.
Law enforcement and prosecutors are joining forces to help you protect your technologically advanced, very expensive piece of equipment with something old school.
The car security systems of the 80′s and prior were not as advanced as they are now and often car buyers would have a kill switch installed.
The device was used to disable the engine which prevents thieves from making off with a vehicle once they get inside. Now police are suggesting that smartphone manufacturers put them in cell phones, according to MSNBC.
*Hmm, maybe now we know why rapper 2 Chainz was trying so hard not to admit that he got robbed in San Francisco at gunpoint last weekend.
And leave it to TMZ to obtain footage of the event which just happened to have been caught by surveillance cameras. As you’ll see, 2 Chainz doesn’t exactly come off like your stereotypical hard, streetwise rapper. He and his crew got the hell out of Dodge with a quickness when they approached by the bad guys, not that we wouldn’t do anything different. It’s the old fight or flight syndrome that kicked in.
2 Chainz and his entourage were casually walking down the street Sunday afternoon when at least 2 men approached the crew and pointed guns at them … one in a white shirt, the other in a black hoodie.
2 Chainz and his crew immediately scattered — frantically trying to sprint down the street while the gunmen chased after them.
One of the gunmen seemed to be having fun during the incident … and gleefully skipped after the rapper while 2 Chainz tried to get away.
During the chase, 2 Chainz stumbles and falls … and one of the gunmen pounces … hovering over the rapper with his gun drawn.
According to police, the bad guys jacked 2 Chainz for his cell phone and wallet. Towards the end of the video, you can see a man running back up the street with what appears to be the loot stuffed under his clothes.
Under the category: “Who ya gonna believe, me or your lyin’ eyes” … 2 Chainz later posted a tweet denying he was robbed … saying, “Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken.”
Yes Mr. 2 Chainz, technically from what can see or not see, it’s impossible to see if the perpertrators took anything from you, but you and your boys didn’t exactly exchange pleasantries with them either
Bottom line: so far no arrests have been made.
Watch it go down:
