That means Shaunie would have to do an end run via the courts and that went down this morning, but that didn’t go her way, either.
*The Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association has announced that Shaquille O’Neal has become an owner of the team through a minority share he recently purchased. He will be introduced as part of the team’s new ownership group on Tuesday, reports ESPN.
O’Neal has been consulting with the Kings since the summer, when majority owner Vivek Ranadive asked him to mentor young big man DeMarcus Cousins. O’Neal has a long business and personal relationship with 24 Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov, who is another of Ranadive’s partners, and Mastrov arranged the introduction between the future Hall of Fame center and Ranadive.
In recent weeks, sources said, the conversation expanded into O’Neal taking a small piece of the franchise. The Kings declined to say how much of a stake O’Neal bought.
Observers can’t help but note that this is an interesting turn of events because O’Neal at one time called his LA Lakers rivals the the “Sacramento Queens” after a tense seven-game Western Conference finals in 2002.
And what a series that was. O’Neal and the Lakers blocked the Kings from reaching the NBA Finals and of course it creating a lot of animosity between the two teams that still prevalent.
*Shaq isn’t seeing any light in the pending lawsuit between him and his former mistress Vanessa Lopez.
According to RadarOnline.com, the ex-lover just added something else to the load, asking for punitive damages.
The suit, which was filed in 2010, accuses the former NBA star of racketeering, invasion of privacy, and intentional inflection of emotional distress after she told him she thinks she’s pregnant.
She claims Shaq started to verbally harass her, making threats as their relationship ended.
And according to a former employee of Shaq’s, he wanted to challenge himself by hacking into text messages of third parties and manipulate numbers to disguise his ultimate goal.
Check out more here.
She may have gotten kicked off the controversial franchise reality show, but the beautiful television star has been picked up for a comedy; on the recently launched Comedy Shaq Network on YouTube.
“Backstage Confidential” is a series of side-splitting interviews of some of the industry’s most hilarious people; like Kevin Hart, DeRay Davis, Chris Tucker, Tommy Davidson, D.L. Hughley and Bill Bellamy.
And these guys will all be featured on the first installment of the series.
Each episode will be a unique experience with lot of laughs, crazy stories, and revealing interviews.
And that’s not all for Govan. She’s also set to star in another series, “Clean Ops.” Written by Sylvia Hillman and Michael Anthony Snowden, the action series follows an undercover vigilante institute, Clean Ops, that recruits high-risk urban kids to learn performing arts, while working as assassins by night.
Surprisingly, Govan plays a classically trained ballerina/assassin.
Check out the trailer for series:
When co-host Kenny Smith asked the former NBA star to name his favorite president. You already knew it was going to be a hot mess and he probably did too.
In response, Charles gave his answer: “I love President Obama, but Abe Lincoln is my new favorite president,” Barkley said. “You know why? Because if it weren’t for him, we’d be calling Ernie (Johnson) ‘boss.’”
To help smooth over the awkward moment, Kenny and Shaq attempted to change the subject only for good ol’ Charles to come in and call him “Boss.”
Viewers responded via Twitter, some with disappointment and others with amusement”
“@bennyboy314 Ben Manning Charles Barkley’s slavery joke was very solid. Hahaha.”
“@SteveLindsayCBS Steve Lindsay Charles Barkley makes a joke about slavery on national tv. Never a good idea.”
*Kelly & Michael–formerly Regis & Kelly–like to have as much fun as Kelly and Regis once had.
Now they’ve brought in Michael Strahan as the new co-host and it appears he’s brought some trouble with him.
Shaquille O’Neal, affectionately called Shaq, had issued a karaoke sing-off between himself and Michael Strahan and decided to bring his showdown to the show.
Michael seemed to have it all under control until……..SHAQ ENTERED THE ROOM AS HIS PURPLE BADNESS…THAT’S RIGHT! PRINCE!
Well. on Thursday, Howard was asked about quote from O’Neal, who – in a recent interview – ranked Brooks Lopez and Andrew Bynum over the new Lakers big man, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year at the center position.
“I don’t really care what Shaq says. Shaq played the game, he’s done. He’s gone. It’s time to move on,” Howard said. “He hated the fact that when he played, the older guys were talking about him and how he played, and now he’s doing the exact same thing. Just let it go. There’s no sense for him to be talking trash. He did his thing in the league, (he’s one) of the greatest to ever play the game. Just sit back and relax. Your time is up. I don’t really care. He can say whatever he wants.”
In Shaq’s interview, which will air on NBA TV’s “Open Court” on Tuesday at 11 p.m., the future Hall of Famer praised Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon for being “true centers” and scoffed at Howard for playing a European style. (You can see that clip here.)
An irritated D12 responded:
“I have respect for him and what he did for basketball,” Howard said. “That’s it. Like I said, he already did his thing. He played. When my time is up there’s going to be someone else who can do everything I can do and probably do it better.”
*Although the way he left, wasn’t under the best of circumstances – calling owner Jerry Buss all kinds of names, etc. that we can’t print here - all is apparently forgiven now ’cause the Los Angeles Lakers announced Thursday they will retire the No. 34 jersey of former center Shaquille O’Neal on April 2 when they host the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center.
O’Neal, who won three NBA championships and one regular-season most-valuable-player award during his eight seasons with the team, last played for the Lakers in 2004. He also won an NBA title with the Miami Heat in 2006.
O’Neal, 40, retired in 2011 after playing one season with Boston.
The Lakers also said they will retire the uniform number of former forward Jamaal Wilkes, who was a member of three NBA championship teams during the Lakers’ Showtime Era in the 1980s. Wilkes, who was nicknamed “Silk,” will have his No. 52 jersey retired Dec. 28 at Staples Center at halftime when the Lakers host the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Lakers also formally announced that on Nov. 16 at Staples Center’s Star Plaza, they will unveil a statue of Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Yeah, the cute big and tall couple broke up for real this time.
Hoopz confirmed the tragic news with The Boston Globe. Supposedly they split up over the lady’s dream to become an Olympic gold medal gymnast.
She was serious about her new goal and even visited the Orlando Metro Gymnastics facility to speak with a coach about making it to the 2016 Rio Games.
But the gym broke it to her saying she’s too much of a liability since she’s over the age of 18. Hoopz flipped out and cursed out the staff, according to Black Sports Online.
Sources say she got so obnoxious that even her man, well, ex, was embarrassed.
By the time the couple was back in the car, a yelling match ensued, and they broke up.
And that’s all folks.
*Shaquille O’Neal is a lot of things – rapper, actor, commentator, doctor, deputy police deputy, reality television star, subject of the single worst video game ever made. He’s a modern renaissance man, with as many nicknames (“Shaq”, “The Diesel”, “Shaq Fu” and “Superman,” among thousands of others) as he has hobbies.
However, “team executive” is one title he’s never had on his rather accomplished resume. Actually, it’s probably the only job he hasn’t done. However, if he aces a job interview with the Orlando Magic soon, Shaq could very well end up as the next GM of one of the NBA’s 32 teams.
Could it work? On the surface, all the available evidence doesn’t look promising. The track record of former players serving as GM is mixed, at best. Danny Ainge with the Celtics and Mitch Kupchak (and before him, Jerry West) with the Lakers can be considered successful; Joe Dumars and Larry Bird have had their moments in Detroit and Indiana. However, legends like Elgin Baylor (with the Clippers) Michael Jordan (with the Wizards) and Isiah Thomas (with the Knicks) were outright comic disasters.
He’d have a tough task in hand, trying to rebuild the Magic, without even a hint of NBA front-office experience. Stan Van Gundy, the coach that lead the team to a Finals appearance three seasons ago, lost an epic power struggle to his star center Dwight Howard and was forced out alongside the team’s former GM, Otis Smith. Howard remains in his petulant man-child state, an absolute force on the court who is well on the way to ruining a franchise off it; bringing in a man who famously battled with Dwight over a “Superman” nickname probably does not bode well for harmony between the big boss and the big star.
However, the idea could also fall squarely into the “crazy enough to work” category. Shaq is, obviously, a bright and verbose guy who could learn on the job. The next crop of NBA free agents grew up in the heart of the Shaq era, so he could serve as a natural draw to bring premiere players into Florida – already a top destination for the weather and the taxes. He’s got the natural charisma and popularity to draw in and entertain more fans to the middle-of-the-pack Magic franchise. So, it’s probably not the worst pick in the world. Then again, you would be entrusting your basketball operations to the man who said “Yes” to Kazaam…
Shaquille O’Neal has turned down the offer.
J. R. Smith Arrested in South Beach
*Police in Miami Beach police say 26-year-old New York Knicks player J.R. Smith (pictured) has been arrested on a bench warrant for not having a valid driver’s license. Sgt. Bobby Hernandez Smith was stopped Thursday night on Washington Avenue in South Beach. A routine search revealed the bench warrant and he was arrested. Details were not immediately available on what led police to stop Smith around 8:30 p.m. (Read learn more at Huffington Post).
Magic Says it’s Time for Howard to Go
*Sheridan Hoops says the Orlando Magic is ready to trade Dwight Howard and will entertain offers once next week’s draft lottery results are in. A league source says that the feeling is mutual, and Orlando is prepared to trade him sooner rather than later. The source same said that when Magic team president traveled to Michigan last weekend to speak in person with owner Rich DeVos, the conclusion was reached that not only was it time for Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith to go, but Howard, too.
Shaq Turns Down magic GM Offer
*Though a lot of folks don’t want to believe it, the offer to Shaquille O’Neal to be the GM of the Orlando magic is true. However, the Big PHD is saying no to the offer:
“When I first heard about the vacancy for the Orlando Magic general manager position, I was clearly intrigued.” he said in a statement. “I was drafted by the Magic, I have a great love for the franchise, and I have made the city of Orlando my home. Additionally, I have great admiration and respect for the DeVos family. However, this is not a job I have an interest in pursuing. I feel very fortunate to be with TNT and to have the best job in sports. I look forward to many more years with Charles, Kenny and E.J. I wish the best for the Magic and I am confident that they will select a great GM and coach.”
The latest commercials with Janet Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, and Jessica Simpson seem to show true weight loss through the various weight loss programs they represent. But Shaq and Charles Barkley… not so much!

The four-time champion proudly received his degree from Barry University on Saturday in Miami, Fla.
He celebrated the moment on stage by lifting his professor in the air.
After leaving Louisiana State University to play pro ball, Shaq went back for his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He’s not all play, folks.
Describing why he decided to get his education, he said, “One, I promised my parents I would[follow my passion for education]. Two, I wanted to continue my education and three, I wanted to challenge myself,” he said.
“The hardest part was getting back into high school mode. You ever have that high school teacher that says, you’ve got to read six chapters over the weekend?” he said.
As far as his last work, he wrote his thesis on the value of humor in leadership.
But he’s not stopping there. Shaq said he wants to become a motivational speaker and go to law school.
O’Neal told ABC News there’s “no way” anyone is allowed to call him Shaq anymore.
“Only the children can call me Shaq, the adults have to address me as Dr. O’Neal,” he said. “I’m proud to call you Dr. O’Neal!” said his mother.
A year into retirement, O’Neal, er, Dr. O’Neal isn’t looking back. He says he doesn’t miss the game “Because I got a new walk, a doctor’s walk.”
*Cable network TruTV is adding Shaq to its development slate.
Execs have ordered a pilot of “Upload With Shaquille O’Neal” (working title), from the producers of “Tosh.0” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” that highlights the week’s top web videos and also gives O’Neal and friends the opportunity to create their own.
TruTV has also ordered “Turbulance,” a Howie Mandel-produced game show that takes place in the sky. As contestants fly from one location to another, they must answer questions, with each correct one producing money banked for a Las Vegas getaway and every wrong one making the flight bumpier.
Another show picked up, “Jeff & Curtis Lose Weight” (working title), centers on duo Jeff Sloniker and Curtis Rainsberry as they try extreme diets, attend absurd exercise classes and humiliate themselves publicly in order to shed pounds. Rive Gauche Television is developing the project for the net.
Some of the highlights included Shaq showing off his 76k square foot home, Magic Johnson advising him to invest his money, wanting to referred to as Dr. O’Neal once he earns his PHD and of course his relationship with Kobe Bryant.
And yes, he talks about his failed marriage to Shaunie O’Neal which he brings up in his recently released memoir, “Shaq Uncut: My Story.” He says that when it came to his infidelity, at least he was “respectful.”
“It’s a man thing, I can’t explain it on the camera ’cause [it's] like a man-rule. I don’t want to give up the man code,” Shaq told Roberts
