I guess it’s the looking back while moving forward thing that I love. Learning from the past, enjoying the gift of the present and excited by the future believing that my best days are ahead of me. I love the idea of being able to leave the past in the past and recreate a new me.

*Fans of the reality show “Tia & Tamera” have already witnessed Tia Mowry-Hardrict’s road toward scoring the lead in the Nickelodeon series “Instant Mom.”
Beginning Sunday (Sept. 29) at 10 p.m., viewers will finally see the finished product.
“I am so excited to be playing a mom,” gushed Tia during the TCA Summer Press tour. “I am a real mom in real life. I have a 2 year old. So I was just really excited to partake in a role such as [this].
In her first scripted series since leaving “The Game” in Spring 2012, Tia plays Stephanie, a party girl who has given up the nightlife for carpools when she marries a man with three kids. Michael Boatman plays her husband, Charlie, and Sheryl Lee Ralph stars as Stephanie’s opinionated mother, Maggie.
“This was really important to me as well because I had just finished doing ‘The Game’ and I wanted to go into another show. And this kind of just landed in my lap,” Tia said. “I love the writing. I think it’s fun. It’s very witty. And I like the contemporary side to it. You don’t necessarily see a show on the air right now with a stepmom, especially surrounded by an African American family. It’s a show that the whole family can sit down and watch. And I think it’s very relatable right now.”
Below, Tia takes us back to the first time she realized she wanted to act.
“Instant Mom” premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. as NickMom’s first scripted comedy. Watch a promo below.
