How the ability to make a split became this type of sport, we do not know. But, the butt burn endured is enough to garner our respect for those who participate.
But, I wonder if men participate in this sport. That would up the “interesting” factor. (more…)
*Tennis might be getting old for championship athlete Serena Williams.
She returned to the court on Jan. 2 for the first time since losing at the U.S. Open last September, but she admitted she’s not looking forward to a new season.
Her 2012 debut started off with a bang as she beat out Chanelle Scheepers (6-2, 6-3) of South Africa at the Brisbane International.
After the match, she took a little time to share her thoughts about returning to the game and also expressing her dread for the gruesome workouts.
“It’s not that I’ve fallen out of love … I’ve never really liked sports, I never understood how I became an athlete,” Williams said.
She went on to say, laughing, that she’s never liked working out and “I don’t want anything that has to do with working physically.”
“If it involves sitting down or shopping I am excellent at that. I don’t love tennis today … but I can’t live without it so I am still here.”
She also added that she wants the liberty to do other things and grow in other areas. But that’s what will keep her motivated to reach that life after tennis, not that she’s planning to retire anytime soon. But life after work certainly seems pretty glamorous right about now.
