The Protector - Season 1 - "Affairs" - Ally Walker and Tisha Campbell-Martin
*“The Protector” will not be returning for a second season, Deadline reports.
Lifetime has decided to axe the freshman cop drama starring Ally Walker as a single mother raising two sons while working as an LAPD homicide detective. Tisha Campbell Martin played her partner.
“The Protector” debuted in June to 1.9 million viewers, before slipping to 600,000 total viewers for its Aug. 8 episode, according to E! Online.
The show has two new episodes left to air and will wrap its run on Monday, Sept. 19.
*Tisha Campbell-Martin is taking on a new role and putting away her better-known comedic self for a drama series on Lifetime.
“The Protector” focuses on a divorced mother, Gloria Sheppard played by Ally Walker who attempts to balance her personal and professional life as a LAPD detective, while raising two boys.
Campbell-Martin, who recently made news because of medical issues, plays the role of Gloria’s partner Michelle Dulcett. The show also stars Miguel Ferrer and Terrell Tilford.
Below, Tisha dishes with “Access Hollywood” about the show. She says it’s so good even men will love it.
“The Protector” airs Sundays at 10pm E/P on Lifetime.
*Tisha Campbell gave up a little too much info in an interview with the ladies of CBS’ “The Talk.”
When asked where wildest location of an intimate encounter with her husband last took place, she may have shared too much information.
“It was in a bathroom in the club … It was like last year,” she said. “It just kind of happened.”
Talking without realizing she could be overstepping some boundaries, the actress said her hubby might not like all their business having been shared.
In the meantime, Campbell’s new show, “The Protector” premieres on Lifetime TV on Sunday.
