*Fans of “The Simpsons” remember the voting booth trouble that Homer experienced in 2008, where he tried to cast a ballot for Barack Obama, and wound up voting six times for John McCain before he was sucked into the machine.
It’s four years later and Homer is back at his voting precinct on Election Day, but this time, without proper identification.
Once that’s cleared up, he weighs his options between President Obama (“I already got one wife telling me to eat healthy”) and Mitt Romney (“I hear he wears magic underpants”). After casting his vote for Romney (because “he invented Obamacare) Homer catches a shocking glimpse at Mitt’s tax returns – and comedy ensues.
“The Simpsons” season 24 premieres on Sept. 30 on Fox.
*Usher is being accused of stealing from years-long running adult cartoon, “The Simpsons.”
According to reports, the singer supposedly borrowed original material first created for a 2003 episode of the show to make his “OMG” hit popular.
The track goes, “Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow/Honey got some boo— like wow, oh wow.” Then in the Simpsons episode titled ‘Dude, Where’s My Ranch?’ Homer Simpson belts out a holiday tune, singing, “Christmas in December, wow, wow, wow/ Give me tons of presents, now, now, now.”
It’s really hard to tell whether or not Will.i.am., who produced the song, jacked the lyrics from the yellow bodied cartoon show. But radio jocks at Y101.7 in Mississippi did a mashup of the songs and produced an interesting comparison.
Check it out the mashup:
In other news, Usher is also in trouble for a similar charge with Wadena Pyatt, who clams Usher and Alicia Keys stole the 2004 song “Caught Up” from her. She said she was signed to MBK entertainment in 2003, the same label of Keys’ former manager owns. She wrote a song for her debut album, but later heard it on Usher’s “Confessions” album, but was never credited as a songwriter. Tough industry.
*The Simpsons haven’t been on for over 20 years for nothin’. They know exactly what they’re doing. The formula in their jokes, similar to SNL, is to go hard on EVERYBODY!
They didn’t even hold back on their own network’s news, Fox News. They had a hilarious episode last week where a Fox News helicopter carrying reps for Fox News descends to drop them off into the head of the Statue of Liberty for a secret meeting.
The helicopter’s spoofed network slogan is visible and reads, “FOX NEWS NOT RACIST, BUT #1 WITH RACISTS”. (more…)
“The Simpsons” blasted their own network on Sunday during an episode featuring a Fox News helicopter with special slogan emblazoned across the side.
The episode, titled “The Fool Monty,” [watch below] featured a number of jokes that could be considered anti-Republican. But drawing the most attention was the Fox News helicopter’s fake slogan: “Fox Not Racist But #1 With Racists.”
Mediate.com points out “there is no shortage of examples in which The Simpsons have taken swipes at its parent company News Corp., as well its corporate siblings Fox Broadcasting and, of course, Fox News.” For a full rundown, click here.
*The once camera shy CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has been getting a lot of airplay these days. We saw him step out of the shadows for the biggest introduction to the masses one can receive, a segment on Oprah’s show during the most important season of her show; her “going out of business” episodes.
According to Oprah, he had to be coaxed into doing her show where she announced his $100 million donation to Newark schools.
And now, the 26-year old billionaire got the second highest honor for his generation (next to the Nobel prize) a cameo appearance on The Simpsons. (more…)
