Although for several years rumors swirled that the player’s beautiful 31-year-old wife would divorce him, Vanessa took to her Instagram account in January 2013 clarifying the state of their realationship via a “textogram” that read: “We are pleased to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. We are looking forward to our future together. Kobe & Vanessa.”
*Singer Monica has become a mom for the third time.
The artist on Tuesday (Sept. 3) welcomed daughter Laiyah with her NBA hubby Shannon Brown. Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa revealed the happy news in an Instagram.com post on Thursday.
“I am so honored to announce that baby Laiyah Brown has arrived!,” she wrote. “Mommy and baby are healthy and well. Congratulations @shannonbrown26 and @monicamylife! We love you guys and we can’t wait to meet Laiyah! 6lbs (pounds) 9/3/13.”
The proud dad gave fans a sneak peek at the newborn later on Thursday, when Brown shared an Instagram photo of himself holding the baby in his arms. He captioned it: “I Thank God for her!!! Joy has been restored in my Life!!!”
This is the first child for the couple, who married in 2011. Monica also has two sons, Rodney and Romelo, with rapper Rocko, while Brown is father to Shanonn Christopher, his child from a previous relationship.
*Over the weekend, NBA legend Michael Jordan celebrated his 50th birthday with a tricked out bash with celebs, champagnes and well wishers.
Held during All-Star at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston (the space reportedly was a pricey $100,000–we hear the cost was donated), the evening included a a private dinner for 100, followed by a concert for 200 additional guests, with a party ending the event.
In addition to MJ’s fiance (Yvette Prieto) being in attendance, we spotted a few NBA ballers and their wives–like Kobe and Vanessa Bryant, Carmelo and Lala Anthony, Chris Paul, A-listers like Beyonce and Jay-Z, Miguel, Nas, R.Kelly (who performed), CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and other fancy folk. Peep some of the candids.

Whatever he did to convince Vanessa to come back, he did himself a favor.
According to California attorney Andrew L. Botros, if the couple would have officially parted ways, it would have cost Kobe something around $1.36 M a month, says NecoleBitchie.com.
Due to Cali’s strict divorce laws, Kobe would have to write a check for child support for two little girls and spousal support indefinitely because their marriage was considered a long-term union upon reaching 10 years. He’d also have to split all of their properties.
Child support alone would be somewhere around $365,000, and spousal support would be about $1million – a MONTH.
Good for him, he and Vanessa have kept it together and they’re keeping the money under one roof.
*There’s nothing doper then celebrities who give back, literally!
A few days after confirming to the world that they are in fact, still in love and not divorcing, Vanessa and Kobe Bryant announced their new community service initiative is a housing project called, Step Up On Vine, which assists youth who are homelessness.
Tonight Kobe and I joined former President Clinton as we celebrated the grand opening of Step Up on Vine, a permanent supportive housing project in Hollywood as part of our commitment to end youth homelessness through the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation. KVBFF.org #KVBFF

As one would expect, she was not happy with Drizzy for putting her name in his mouth in such a disrespectful way.
A few months ago Drake said publicly that he regretted the line, but apparently he also apologized to her via a text message.
The line that Drake rapped, if you aren’t aware, is on Rick Ross’ Rich Forever mixtape, and it goes like this:
“Kobe ’bout to lose a hundred fifty M’s/Kobe my n—a I hate it had to be him/Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym.”
Of course at that time, Vanessa and her husband, Kobe Bryant, weren’t getting along so well and speculation was that they were getting divorced. Fast forward to now and from what we can see, the couple seems to be doing just fine.
Here’s Vanessa’s response via Instagram:
“I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship,” she wrote. “Just shows how gullible they are. I don’t need to be in the gym. I’m raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life. But thanks for your concern over an immature quote.
I really wish people would stop THINK and then realize that they are being sucked into someone’s clear intention to monetize and gain attention off of our family’s heartache. This is real life. I hold down our home life so my husband can focus on his career. It’s a partnership.
Since my husband isn’t friends with Drake, we received a text of an apology forwarded from his manager. It’s done and over with and it’s now time for people to THINK before speaking.”
