Charles Ramsey launches new website to work his newly trademarked name.
*Charles Ramsey will always be known for his heroic rescue of the three women in Cleveland that had been in the custody of kidnapper Ariel Castro.
But he didn’t accept any monetary rewards. He declined and asked that all monies be given to the women that were held in custody.
But Ramsey has thought of another way to get money for his fame by trademarking his name and using his name for commercial ventures.
According to the Smoking Gun:
“The 43-year-old Ramsey’s USPTO applications–which cost a combined $1650–cover several different kinds of products, including “Halloween costumes and masks sold in connection therewith,” bracelets, t-shirts, and shoes.”
*Ludacris isn’t only about booty droppin’ and bottle poppin’. He’s got substance too.
He and his 10-year-old daughter, Karma, have been working together to launch an interactive, educational website filled with fun activities and of course, music for the kids.
In an interview with Ebony, the rapper revealed that the site (KARMASWORLD.COM), which was originally launched last December, will be relaunched in time for the new school year, laced with 11 new tracks.
“The whole thing came about because my daughter followed me into the studio…and as time progressed she continued wanting to…pursue something in music,” he said. “Basically what happened was she kept saying she wanted to do it and I said, ‘Well, if you want to record music you have to talk about what’s going on in your life, and that was basically education and school, where it came from.’ And she actually did all 20 songs that are on the website right now. I’m an extremely proud father, especially that she’s an entrepreneur at the age of 10 right now.”
He admitted the site and his daughter’s songs have helped her improve in school. He says her progress is a testament that this stuff really works.
*Former Destiny’s Child member, now solo artist, Letoya Luckett is down on her luck somewhat.
One of her popular fan sites shut down in a dramatic fashion after posting a harsh letter to the singer.
Before the Letoya News Network shut down, the site administrator described what seems to be a terrible break up, scolding Luckett for ignoring her loyal fans. The writer reminds the singer turned actress that her true gift is in music.
Check out the hissy fit filled post below from the sites administrator, “Common”:
“Most artists would kill to have a fanbase like yours. I don’t understand this reluctance to communicate with your fans. Break the barrier already!
STOP this secrecy. You have (had?) DIE HARD fans, not every artist has that. But for some reason it feels like you neither respect nor appreciate them. You make us feel like we’re trash, like we don’t count. You have said hurtful things to fans I won’t mention here. You shouldn’t forget that you’re on our payroll and that without us fans there wouldn’t be a LeToya.
You don’t understand how the new music industry works. Your mindset is still very old school. You always leave fans in the dark. As a result you’re losing them by the minute….
I absolutely don’t give a F about Smooth Touch, I don’t care about Gospel plays, I don’t care about any of the acting. I wanted MUSIC and most importantly for some unknown reason I wanted to witness you being successful at it. It’s not just that I want to have more tracks from you. It’s that I want to see you enjoy success like a Drake or a Keri Hilson because I know you deserve it so much….
Anyway when your album comes out, if ever, I’ll definitely download it on rapidshare. I’ll enjoy it but no more me buying hundreds of them and selling them around for you…
You just lost one of your greatest stan. PS: If you don’t address this, it will be the proof to me that you don’t give a damn about your fans.”
Well guess who’s all kissy- kissy now? Letoya reached out to Common and had a heart to heart so all is forgiven. Awww. Click here to see how the drama was resolved.
*George Zimmerman, the self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, has raised at least $200,000 through a website set up to fund his defense, his lawyer said on Thursday.
Donors contributed “just over $200,000,”said Mark O’Mara, Zimmerman’s defense lawyer.
The site set up to solicit funds for Zimmerman’s defense, therealgeorgezimmerman.com, has since been shut down.
Zimmerman was released this week on $150,000 bail and has been moved to an undisclosed location. He had surrendered to police earlier this month after prosecutors charged him with second-degree murder in the February shooting death of Martin in a gated community in the central Florida town of Sanford.
Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and says he killed Martin in self-defense.
The incident has prompted civil rights protests and a national debate over guns, self-defense laws and race in America.
O’Mara told CNN that he would inform the judge in the case of the funds on Friday.
The initial wallpaper for George Zimmerman's new website.
*The tragedy of Trayvon Martin’s death has not completely permeated the nation as we expected.
The disrespectful electronic construction sign outside Detroit depicting him as a racial slur and now the black cultural center on The Ohio State University’s campus has been vandalized with “Long Live Zimmerman” written across the outside of the building.
But, if you think that’s disrespectful, George Zimmerman chose to use it for wallpaper on his new website. (more…)
*A new memorial website has been set up in Heavy D’s honor.
RememberHeavyD.com gives details of the public memorial to be held Thursday from noon until 6 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, New York. It also includes information on how to donate to the Heavy D and Xea Myers Fund, which has been established in support of Heavy D’s daughter.
A Heavy D hotline number can also be found at the site along with instructions for flower delivery.
As reported, a funeral for the Jamaica-born, Queens-raised musician-turned-actor is scheduled for the following day, Nov. 18, also at the Grace Baptist Church. P. Diddy and Rev. Al Sharpton are expected to speak, according to the Associated Press.
An autopsy, as previously reported, proved to be inconclusive with toxicology results pending. Reports cited that Heavy D was experiencing difficulty breathing and collapsed. It could be several weeks before the cause of death is revealed.

Of course there is music coverage, exclusive interviews and a section about the life and times of the founder named “Jay.”
The website is called “LifeandTimes.com” and is modeled after his fourth studio album, “Vol. 3: The Life & Times of S. Carter.”
The new site of course adds another notch on his resume, which includes his part ownership of the New Jersey Nets, Rocawear clothing, 40/40 club and he recently purchased German digital label Block Starz LLC.
*Yesterday of course was Valentine’s Day and Mashonda, the embattled ex-wife of Swizz Beatz, launched a new relationship-themed website.
At the site, www.MashondaLoyal.com, which stresses love and loyalty, the singer also gives advice for fans from her own experiences in relationships.

*Jay-Z announced Friday (Nov. 12) that New Orleans rapper Jay Electronica has been signed to his Roc Nation imprint, joining recently-added acts J. Cole and Willow Smith.
Jay-Z delivered the news at a lavish party at New York club The Box, which kicked off at about 10:15 p.m. with his wife Beyonce and artist Omarion among the guests. According to Billboard, the event also featured a three-ring circus that included burlesque dancers, an aerial gymnast, a Russian hula-hoop master and a girl whose “talent” was having men shoot arrows at balloons that were strategically positioned over her “vajayjay.”
Jay-Z, decked out in a sharp black suit, took the stage and told his guests about his “goal to reintroduce magic back into hip-hop, the love, the wizardry.” With that, Jay introduced “Mr. Jay Electronica, the official Roc Nation signee.” [Watch clip below.]
Electronica, wearing a black suit and blue tie, performed a handful of songs that showed the skills that turned Jay-Z’s ear. “This is a real moment for me, so forgive me while I do what I do best.”
Jay Electronica has been praised for his outstanding rap skills since 2007, but it was the release of the 2009 track “Exhibit C,” which reached no. 86 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, that garnered him the most mainstream attention, with music moguls like Diddy and his baby-mother Erykah Badu calling him the most exciting thing to happen to hip-hop in a long while. [Listen to Exhibit C below.]
Meanwhile, Jigga also recently unveiled a new website as a promotional push for his upcoming greatest hits album, “The Hits Collection,” which hits stores Nov. 22.
The Flash-based site opens with scenic black and white photos of New York landmarks before hitting the landing page (see photo above). Each section of the website chronicles different periods of his career, from the early days to his corporate prowess developed over the past few years. Below, a review from Web site Mashable.com…
A particular standout is the way the site incorporates tweets. The fans are actually given a rather large mic on this site, but Twitter’s constant stream of commentary is both powerfully and gracefully incorporated. Unlike the Skittles debacle of 2009, this page gives some (but not all) of its voice to fans, while giving them tools to enter the conversation and some very handy prompts for shaping the conversation, as well.
Here’s the pop-up that appears when you click on the banner reading “Tweets is watching. Add your voice.”
Tweets displayed on the site start off as an unobtrusive EQ line at the bottom of the page, with glowing bars and floating text as you mouse over each bar.
When you click on a particular bar (representing a tweet), a carousel interface pops over the site, and you can see what people are tweeting about Jay-Z.
According to Agency Net, the firm that created the new site along with Island Def Jam, its approach to social media integration “was inspired by a very basic insight: fans love to use social media, particularly Twitter, to post Jay-Z lyrics and illustrate their dexterity.”
“That said, after a few glances at the organic, fan-powered hashtags #jayzlyrics and #jayzquote, we were sold on including a mechanism for fans to offer homage in the way they’re already doing so, but this time on the most credible platform ever: amongst the content itself and visualized by the world.”
*People used to say that Ricky was a bit more gay in his dance steps than he should be. And that’s “gay” as in jovial! That the spring in his step was just a little bit more than the average rhythmic latin dancer.
But, we didn’t believe them because he didn’t want us to. He never really rebuked the rumors, just kinda dismissed them.
Well, he is finally free and clear! He came out to the press saying that he is a “fortunate homosexual man.” He wrote a note on his website explaining the life he chose to live up until now and why it (more … at eurThisNThat)
