If Beyonce can do it, so can CeeLo Green.
Yes, we’re talking about releasing a new album minus any publicity or marketing. Actually it’s been done by unknown artists since , well always. That’s because they had no choice. But for major, branded artists with major labels behind them, it just didn’t seem to make sense and quite frankly for the most part it still doesn’t. It worked for Beyonce because she’s Beyonce. Hey, CeeLo Green is no Beyonce, but he is not an unknown either.
The Grammy winner surprised fans earlier this week when he released a nine-song album on Soundcloud. The new project, according to Billboard, is called “TV on the Radio” and features popular TV theme songs from shows such as “Taxi” “Family Ties” and “Knight Rider.”
Some are saying that perhaps the reason for the out of nowhere album release was because he didn’t want to have to deal with talking to the media which would mean he would in variably get asked about pleading no contest to slipping ecstasy to a woman he met at Los Angeles restaurant in 2012. After that he released a stream of controversial tweets regarding rape. But because of that, hhe received harsh public backlash and later apologized for his tweets and deleted his Twitter account.
