Marlon Wayans Triumphs in Cleveland Brown Lawsuit

Marlon-Wayans *Marlon Wayans has come out on top with a court victory over the man who sued him for comparing him to “Family Guy” and “The Cleveland Show” character Cleveland Brown.

According to TMZ.com, Pierre Daniel took Wayans to court over claims the funnyman racially harassed him on the set of “Haunted House 2” by posting a side-by-side pic of him with the cartoon character, captioning it, “Tell me this n**** don’t look like … THIS N****!!! Ol Cleveland Brown ass lookin.”

Despite Daniels’ argument, the judge in the case sided with Wayans as he ruled that, “The Cleveland Brown character, like [Pierre], obviously black, heavy … with curly ‘Afro’ hair were all incorporated humorously into the filming of the scene.”

In addition, TMZ noted that the judge mentioned that Wayans’ stock in trade is stereotypes, and it’s protected speech … period.

“I am grateful that the judge upheld our constitutional rights of free speech,” Wayans told the site. “It’s the first amendment and probably the most important for a comedian. This is also a stride toward protecting public figures from often bogus claims and lawsuits. I am grateful. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go watch reruns of The Cleveland Show.”

Although Pierre’s case against Marlon was thrown out, his case against the production company looks as though it will continue to move forward.
