Ex-Reporter Charlo Green Gets Her Wish; Alaska Approves Marijuana

charlo greene,*Remember Charlo Greene, the former Alaskan reporter who said “f*** it” while quitting her job on live television. Well, the president of the Alaska Cannabis Club finally got her wish. Marijuana is now legal in Alaska.

Alaska is currently the third state to legalize marijuana in the U.S. after Washington and Colorado. Washington D.C. is to follow on Thursday. This means smoking, growing and possession pot is now allowed in this state.

The cannabis club planned a grand opening on Tuesday in downtown Anchorage. Greene promised to distribute weed to medical-marijuana buyers and club members.

Not everyone is happy about the legalization of pot. Alaska’s native leaders are upset and worried about those who are suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence and suicide.

“When they start depending on smoking marijuana, I don’t know how far they’d go to get the funds they need to support it, to support themselves,” said Edward Nick, a council member in Manokotak, a predominantly Yup’ik Eskimo village.
