*Jared Dudley stirred up a bit of controversy recently when he said players avoid playing with Kobe Bryant, and called Carmelo Anthony the NBA’s most overrated player.

Now, the Bucks’ forward is taking back one of those controversial remarks.

While appearing on a variety of ESPN shows last week, Dudley talked about James Harden, Kevin Love, and Zach Randolph, but his comments about Kobe and Carmelo were the most brow raising.

On Kobe, Dudley said:

“Most guys don’t want to play with Kobe. He gets in this thing where he doesn’t pass and then overpasses and then trying to get triple doubles every night, so we know you have it…

“That’s why I think it will be a while for the Lakers to get good because they’ve got no stars. I would be surprised if (Kevin) Love goes there.”

On Carmelo, he said:

“I would say Carmelo [is the most overrated]. The reason? He’s viewed as a top five player. He has the talent to be able to facilitate. He has the talent to make guys better and the triangle should fit him — he’s just got to make other guys better. Defensively he has to take it the next level up. He’s got to get out of the first, second round. He’s got to get that the team to the playoffs. With that roster, LeBron would’ve been an eight seed. He’s not LeBron.”

Kobe and Carmelo fans immediately took to Twitter to blast Dudley over his comments, and he wasted no time to respond, saying:

“Ok Kobe fans listen to the interview. I said Kobe one of the greats! I’m laughing about his shot attempts . Most people not taking less $”

On Wednesday, Dudley appeared on ESPN New York 98.7 FM’s “Hahn & Humpty Show” and apologized for calling Anthony the most overrated player in the league.

“I shouldn’t have said that-that was my fault for saying that because it’s not the truth,” Dudley told hosts Alan Hahn and Rick DiPietro. “… I apologize for saying that about Carmelo.”

“You get kind of frustrated at times seeing because of him having to make his other guys better and defensively certain things, but for me to say he’s the most overrated that was wrong for me to say. He’s arguably a top 3 or 4 scorer, between him (Kevin Durant) and (Russell Westbrook). But if you see, that’s not enough in this league. If [you’re] a No. 1 guy and you’re a max guy, this is a superstar league, you have to be able to do certain things.”
