Celebs Show Up for Face Forward’s Anti-Domestic Abuse Gala: (WATCH)

*The Face Forward organization, founded by Deborah Alessi, a former domestic violence survivor and her husband, Dr. David Alessi is a charity that provides pro-bono physical and mental rehabilitation services to victims of Domestic abuse and violent crimes.

In fact their slogan is “We help survivors of violent and disfiguring crimes put their Face Forward after suffering from domestic abuse.”

This past Saturday, September 19, 2015  Face Forward celebrated six years of charity within the spousal abuse and violent crime community at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel located in Downtown Los Angeles. The organization put on a huge gala event hosted by actress Nicole Sullivan and MC’d by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and KTLA-TV’s Lu Parker.

The gala’s Moulin Di Rouge theme brought out A-listers of all kinds dressed in burlesque inspired top hats, feathers and jewels. On the carpet were a few very special celebrity guest – among the VIP list was CBS’ “Code Black” actors Ben Hollingsworth, Bonnie Summerville, Marcia Gay Harden and Luis Guzman and actor John Savage Also, rapper Nelly accompanied by his girlfriend Shantel Jackson to the event which saw performances by Chaka Khan and Macy Gray.

Face Forward celebrated not only their renown celebrity guest list this night, but they proudly honored new partnerships with supporting brands including Journey Out and a recently new step to expand into the entertainment/influencer/brand ambassador space which will be led by Manny Halley who is responsible for navigating the careers of Keyshia Cole and Nicki Minaj.

Most importantly, some of the remarkable women and patients of Face Forward who have centered their lives on refocusing after spousal abuse were in attendance and spotlighted for their courageous efforts.

There were also some pretty legendary formerly abused honorees in the building that night including La Toya Jackson, sister of Michael Jackson who was involved in an abusive relationship for many years. Also honored was, Dr. Imagawa of the LAPD for her strides in developing Face Forward’s mission in partnership with the LAPD.

Electronic Urban Report/EURweb associate Loren LoRosa spoke with a few of the celeb attendees about why supporting an organization like Face Forward is important to them.
