*An African American producer for ABC’s “Nightline” recently shared her first-ever experience of “direct hatred towards me because of the color of my skin.”

Jasmine Brown is telling her story for “timesXtwo,” described by ABC and partner BBC News as “a double-take on the people around us, and why they do what they do).

Brown tells the story of her dealings with Craig Cobb, a white supremacist who was the subject of a Nightline story on Cobb’s efforts to create a town devoted to his racist ideology.

“You learn about civil rights…and how far we’ve come,” Brown tells an interviewer tearfully. “And we haven’t.”
