*Valentino used words like “primitive,” “wild” and “tribal” to described their new African-inspired collection at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday – which was bad enough – but it was their lack of African models on the runway that drove fashionistas to Twitter in bewilderment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spring 2016 collection presented by Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri were generally well received, but the language used to describe the garments, and the severe lack of black models didn’t sit will with some reviewers in attendance.
Some of the clothes at Valentino are magnificent. However not sure about the whole usurping African culture thing. That’s a tricky one. #PFW

That’s very cute of #Valentino to pay homage to the African culture for the new collection, but ummm…where were the african models?
