*Rapper Foxy Brown was awarded a key to the city by the president of the Borough of Brooklyn for representing her hometown on the global stage. According to Hip Hop DX, Rev. Run’s son Diggy Simmons and Joey Bada$$ were honored as Leaders Of Tomorrow.

After receiving the honor, Foxy shared the news with fans on Instagram on Wednesday, when she posted a photo of her official dedication and the ceremonial key. Check it out below.

“Wow!!!!!!!!,” she captioned the pic. “Only ONE Chick Alone Got The ‘KEY’ To Her HOME #BROOKLYN!!!!!!! It’s OFFICIAL! BK (Brooklyn) Is #MINE!”

Brown rose to fame in the mid 90s. Her albums include “Ill Na Na” in 1996, followed by “Chyna Doll” in 1999, and “Broken Silence” in 2001. Brown suffered hearing loss from 2005 -2006. “Black Roses” is said to be the title of her fourth studio album, and was initially slated to be released in 2005. After a series of production problems, including a lack of promotion from her former label, Def Jam Records, the album was put on pause. In an interview with Billboard in 2011, Foxy said the album was on track and planned to drop it between August and September 2011. That time came and went with no album delivered.

A few notable celebs congratulated Foxy on Social Media, such as Malcolm X’s daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, who said in a video “May you reclaim your throne sister.”

Wyclef Jean decided to dedicate a song to the rap star. “Congratulations to my good friend Foxy Brown / Brooklyn loves you,” he sang while playing the piano.

Foxy Brown is the latest rapper to receive a city key, alongside Rick Ross, J. Cole, Lil Kim and more.
