Mariah Carey & James Packer to Marry on Exclusive Caribbean Island

*Mariah Carey and her billionaire beau James Packer will marry on the exclusive island of Barbuda in the Caribbean and only 50 guests will be invited to the private ceremony – set to take place this summer on the island where James is currently building a private $250 million resort with Robert De Niro.

No word on the exact wedding date, but the planning for Carey’s third trip down the aisle will be televised on her new E! docuseries called “Mariah’s World.” The singer confirmed to The New York Times that she’ll be starring in an eight-part documentary series, which will chronicle her tour in Europe and South Africa, and as she plans her wedding to Australian-born Packer.

“We haven’t seen a star of her level and her history” appear on television quite this way, Jeff Olde, E!’s executive vice president for program development, said. Filming for the show began two weeks ago, and Carey, who divorced Nick Cannon last year, explains that the series won’t be cheap or exploitative.

“I refuse to call it a reality show,” she told the Times, adding that her 4-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, won’t be filmed much.

“I don’t want to do anything that’s exploitative,” she said. “They haven’t been filmed at all yet. There might be a couple of moments, but it’s not about making them the stars of the show. They’re too young to make that decision.”

The hour-long series is expected to debut later this year, possibly after mid-June.

“I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am,” Carey said. “A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that.”
