Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors Gets Two New Co-Chairs

*Emmy Award-winning Producer, TV Host, Syndicated Radio Personality, and Pop Culture Commentator Tanya Hart and Robert Papazian, an Emmy-winning veteran television producer (Inherit the Wind, The Day After, the highest rated movie made for Television, Rome) and former CEO and co-owner of Hollywood’s Sunset Gower Studios has been elected as co-chairs of The Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors for a two-year term (www.Caucus.org).

Tanya becomes the first African-American and first woman to head up the 40-year-old entertainment industry trade organization.

A recent recipient of Distinguished Service Award from The Caucus, Tanya also serves on the Caucus Foundation board of directors, which provides grant support to the next generation of TV and new media producers, writers and directors.

 “We are honored and truly humbled by having the opportunity to co-chair The Caucus for Writers, Producers, and Directors.  For the past 40-years this organization has provided the gold standard for our industry.  Bob Papazian and I, along with our membership, plan to continue that tradition with a renewed sense of inclusion and creativity across all platforms. About Tanya Hart

Tanya currently hosts “Hollywood Live with Tanya Hart”, a daily syndicated Radio and Online program distributed by American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) on more than 300 affiliate stations nationwide.

Additionally, she heads up Tanya Hart Consulting, Inc. in Hollywood, a multi-media content company that recently produced a national awareness campaign act against HIV/AIDS for the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention Agency (CDC).

Tanya has produced several documentaries for PBS, as well as syndicated children’s programs “Call It Macaroni,” and “Rebop”.   While a student at Harvard University Tanya worked with the team that created Sesame Street to create the math TV program “Infinity Factory.”

In 2000 Tanya partnered with Western Syndication to produce the popular syndicated series “Live from Hollywood” a national talent show, which was the forerunner to American Idol.

As BET’s first talk show host, Tanya hosted and produced over 300 episodes of “Live from LA with Tanya Hart.”  Her interview with late rapper Tupac Shakur from the series would be used in the 2003 Oscar-nominated documentary film “Tupac: Resurrection.”

For six seasons, Tanya both a contributor and then co-host of E! Entertainment’s “The Gossip Show,” a roundtable entertainment news show that preceded the widely popular “TMZ” news magazine show. Tanya has recently appeared on ABC, CNN, HLN and “Inside Edition” talking about the film industry, diversity in Hollywood and other entertainment stories.

A four-time Emmy Awards and eight nominations, Tanya has also received a Peabody Award, five medals from the International TV and Film Festival of New York, a Trailblazer Award from the Legacy Ladies Torch Awards and numerous other honors.

 About Robert Papazian

Robert A. Papazian, an Emmy Award winner for his critically acclaimed production of NBC’s Inherit the Wind, is recognized as one of Hollywood’s most successful and creative television producers, executives and Studio operators.

Born in Boston and raised in Los Angeles, after a stint as Head of Production at ABC Circle Films, Papazian partnered with writer-producer James G. Hirsch in 1987 to create one of the industry’s most respected independent production companies, Papazian-Hirsch Entertainment. Among their achievements, Bob and Jim created and Executive Produced HBO’s highly popular, smash success, “ROME”. He is a founding partner of International Studio Group, LLC (“ISG”).

Papazian’s prodigious body of producing work includes producing more than 60 television movies and miniseries, garnering a total of 27 Emmy nominations and 9 Emmys.

Other television laurels include the all-time top-rated (46.0/62) multi-Emmy nominated television movie, The Day After (ABC); the Christopher Award for Crisis at Central High (CBS); California Governor’s Community Excellence Award for A Reason to Live (NBC); and the Excellence in Programming Award from American Women in Radio and Television for Why Me? (ABC).
