The network has given a series order to “Star,” which follows three young singers as they endure the cut-throat music industry to become the next big female singing group. As previously reported, newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady play the young singers. Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt are also in the cast. Lenny Kravitz will be featured as a guest star.

Like “Empire,” the series will feature original music. According to Fox, there will also be “stunning musical fantasy sequences, as the girls dream of their future.”

Lee Daniels, Tom Donaghy, Pamela Oas Williams and Effie Brown (of “Damonsplaining” fame) serve as executive producers. Daniels and Donaghy wrote the pilot script, which was directed by Daniels.

Meanwhile, Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton”), Miranda Otto (“Homeland”) and Jimmy Smits (“Sons of Anarchy”) star in “24: Legacy,” described by Fox as “the next chapter” in its “24” franchise:

“24 Legacy” chronicles an adrenaline-fueled race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil – in the same real-time format that has propelled this genre-defining series.
