New Kindred the Family Soul: ‘All My People’ (LISTEN)

kindred the family soul

*Kindred the Family Soul (Fatin and Aja Dantzler) have returned with “All My People,” a song about solidarity, shared prosperity and peace in the community. The duo exchange inspiring verses over a few funky horns and pledge, “I want for my brother what I want for myself,” which is reminiscent of the Philadelphia International sound of the 70s.

The sentiment is not left in the melody; the couple has increasingly raised their profile in Philadelphia with a string of events and activities geared towards community awareness and empowerment, including “Parenting While Black” this past weekend. The panel discussion, moderated by Aja, featured Marc Lamont Hill, Mister Mann Frisby, Janice Johnson Dias and others discussing the challenges and rewards of raising Black children in the age of Black Lives Matter.

Be on the lookout for Kindred the Family Soul’s latest album, their first since 2014’s A Couple Friends, coming in August. If you’re in the the-soul-experienceGreater Delaware area, catch them, along with Raheem DeVaughn and Avery*Sunshine this Saturday night for “The Soul Experience” at the Grand Opera House. The song is available for purchase on  iTunes and Google Play.
