*Back in January, Tyler Perry revealed that a line from Chris Rock’s film “Top Five” inspired his next Madea film.

Today at Cinemacon, he reminded the assembled group of theater owners how the idea for “Boo! A Madea Halloween” came about.

“In Chris Rock’s movie ‘Top Five,’ he jokes about a Madea Halloween movie selling out with a line down the block,” Perry said. “So I got a call from Lionsgate executives who thought it was a good idea.”

Due in theaters Oct. 21, “Boo! will follow Madea as she keeps watch over a group of misbehaving teens on Halloween night while fending off “killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls and zombies.”

The film co-stars Bella Thorne, Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, and Andre Hall.
