*A ball boy passed out soon after Venus Williams started her first-round match at the Italian Open on Monday, which took place in about 86-degree heat.
“The heat, unfortunately, already claiming its first casualty,” said the TV announcer. “That young man just being temporarily overcome.”
He appeared to be okay after being treated on the court and escorted away.
Williams was leading 1-0 in the first set against Coco Vandeweghe when the ball boy was overcome – just as Vandeweghe was serving in the second game of the match.
