*The earthy and always soulful modern day Griot, Anthony David, has garnered a devoted fan base with his poignant anthems of truth that often defy musical boundaries.
Rooted in the great R&B tradition, the Grammy nominated singer/songwriter/guitarist’s own intoxicating elixir fuses elements of pop, folk, blues, rock and reggae.
 “R&B today is not niche. We have just as much to offer as every other genre,” declares Anthony David, who recently appeared on Own Network and Liongate’s new and much talked about megachurch drama, Greenleef.
David has even made fans of President Barak Obama and the First Lady. A longtime collaborator with multi-Grammy Award winner India.Arie, David’s collaboration with the singer/songwriter, “There’s Hope,” was tapped as one of Obama’s campaign songs and the First Lady has admitted to adding David’s songs to her own personally curated playlists.
Shanachie Entertainment will release Anthony David’s anticipated label debut, The Powerful Now on August 26, 2016 featuring the lead single “Beautiful Problem.”
“The Powerful Now is about the now being the most important moment at all times. I write every album as if it could be my last, so I don’t hold back on any feeling or idea,” shares David. “There is no ‘I’ll get to that later.’ There’s also no burden of trying to link with what I’ve done in the past. This time is always intended to be the best time.”

Citing Lorraine Hansbury and Bill Withers as two of his greatest creative influences, Anthony David makes it his mission to sing songs that reflect the times.
“I write mostly for different scenarios I find myself in,” explains the worldly musician who spent a stint in the military. “Anything from a song that would sound good as you’re walking around TJ Maxx, to something that might inspire somebody in a dark moment or out at a club or lounge.”
The Powerful Now highlights David’s keen compositional skills and undeniably powerful chops. They dynamic artist reunites with Nashville based Grammy and Emmy winning songwriter Shannon Sanders (John Legend, Eric Benet and Leela James).
The duo collaborated on   David’s 2011 CD As Above So Below. Also showcased on The Powerful Now is writer and producer Eddie “Gypsy” Stokes. “He’s the one who told me that I should be an artist,” confides Anthony.
“He did my first demo, and gave me my first lessons in production. We reconnected and he executive produced the album.”
Fellow Atlanta based singer Carmen Rogers reunites with  David as well. The duo made magic on the 2015 collaboration “Charge.” David also welcomes singer/songwriter Mylah and up-and-coming artist out of DC, Reesa Renee, on his latest and fifth solo effort.
Raised in Savannah GA, Anthony David has long been a part of A-Town’s vital and thriving music scene. His friendship and musical partnership with India.Arie resulted in a winning combination as David collaborated on her first three critically heralded albums and he toured as a backing vocalist for her. India.Arie also invited David to open for her on several occasions.
David penned the song “Part of My Life” for Arie’s 7-time Grammy nominated album Acoustic Soul. He made his own recording debut as a leader in 2004 with Three Chords & The Truth, which was followed by The Red Clay Chronicles, two years later.
2008’s Acey’s Duecy spawned the single “Words,” a powerful duet with India.Arie. In 2011 he released his fourth solo effort, As Above So Below, which launched his inaugural collaboration with Shannon Sanders.
The album also featured Atlanta based signer Algebra; rapper Phonte from Little Brother and David’s cousin, Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman.
A highlight on this CD was the single “4Evermore” featuring Algebra and Phonte, which became a Top 20 hit.
The Powerful Now is a potent reminder of the far-reaching talents of Anthony David and a declaration that the best is yet to come from this amazing talent. David concludes, “One’s art is one’s legacy.”
At the rate the consummate musician is going, his legacy and the fate of R&B are in good hands and solid footing.
