*Bill O’Reilly opened his Fox News program Wednesday by addressing the comments about Michelle Obama’s DNC speech that got him ripped apart on social media and beyond.

It all started on Tuesday when he called himself “fact-checking” Mrs. Obama’s comment about living in a White House built by slaves. On “The O’Reilly Factor,” he made a point to say that those particular slaves “well fed” and had “decent lodging,” as if this matters.

He doubled down on his comments Wednesday and called his critics “smear merchants” and “far left loons.”

“As any honest historian knows, in order to keep slaves and free laborers strong, the Washington administration provided meat, bread and other staples, also decent lodging on the grounds of the new presidential building,” O’Reilly said Wednesday. “That is a fact. Not a justification, not a defense of slavery.”
