*Music mogul Master P — born Percy Miller — weighed in on the contract dispute between Lil Wayne and Bryan “Birdman” Williams in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. He’s also asking President Barack Obama to pardon his brother, Corey “C-Murder” Miller, and his former record label-mate, McKinley “Mac” Phipps Jr., saying the evidence shows that both men are innocent.

“I got a brother in prison. I could’ve been there but I changed my mindset. He’s in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, but it’s the mindset. He named himself C-Murder. Back in the day I was like, ‘Dude, you can’t do that.’ I could’ve named myself something crazy, but I wanted to master what I do,” Miller said.

He continued, “I know Obama been pardoning people… This is my letter to the President. When you look at Corey Miller, he’s not a bad person. He’s somebody that I love. Yeah, he’s not perfect. Maybe he did some things in his past, but right now, he’s in prison for a crime that he didn’t commit. The things that he did, he paid his dues for the crimes that he did in his past. Everybody has a childhood, nobody’s perfect. I feel like the system locked in on him and targeted him… Even to me he’s done some crazy stuff, but I love him. We’re blood.”

The Huff Posts notes that the president has no power to pardon Corey Miller or Phipps, because they weren’t convicted of federal offenses. Percy Miller told HipHopDX that his brother’s nickname probably didn’t help his case. Corey Miller, 45, is serving a life sentence in Louisiana’s Angola prison for the 2002 fatal shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a now-defunct nightclub in New Orleans.

The artist also expressed his hope that fellow New Orleans natives, Weezy and Birdman, can reconcile.

“I think they’re eventually going to work it out because they’re hurting theyself,” Master P told HipHopDX. “They both losing money. I think Lil Wayne is probably one of the biggest artists in the world. Nobody’s gonna be able to take that away from him. I think that Baby built something from Louisiana and people got to respect that. Together they made something powerful. Now they just gotta figure out how to go separate ways with it. I’ve been working with Lil Wayne. I’ve got another record with him. Shout out to little homie. I definitely want to see him win.”
