EUR New Music: Tabita – ‘Holla At Me’ (WATCH)

This is our first time experiencing Tabitha here at EURweb. We definitely like what we see and hear!

*Teaming up with Studio 43, the boutique label of music industry mogul, Kenny Burns, Tabitha is preparing to launch her debut album, No Fiction, and with it, the release of her debut single, Holla At Me.” Tabitha is very exited to share this first chapter with the world.

“Holla At Me,” takes listeners on Tabitha’s journey as an artist. From her roots in Amsterdam and experiencing the music industry at a young age, to her travels to London and Los Angeles to work on her album, No Fiction. “Holla At Me” pays tribute to both her past and her future.

With “Holla At Me,” Tabitha definitely brings back that late 90s, 2000s feel everyone loves and is here to tell her story using this era in music as inspiration. Fans of Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse can find refuge in Tabitha’s soulful sounds. “I’m determined to make my mark by being honest and real with music lovers and the music industry alike,” says Tabitha. And we can’t do anything but love her for it!

The music video was shot on location in Los Angeles, California, was directed by Nick Brazinsky and features animations by Auna Smith (@heartofauna).

Tabitha was born in a small city called Leiden in The Netherlands to a Surinamese and Chinese father and a Dutch mother. After her father passed away in 2001, Tabitha was forced to grow up fast and mostly by herself. At the age of 12, Tabitha felt the only way to express herself was by writing songs to beats she found on YouTube. Soon after, Tabitha recorded her first hook in a studio. It was then that she realized making music wasn’t just something she loved to do but much more than that.

“It all started as a form of medication for what I was going through… I wasn’t the easiest to handle in my teenage years. I was actually quite the rebel. I never felt like I fit in anywhere, especially not in school.”

After Tabitha was kicked out of a conventional school, she found herself auditioning for a musical education program at the Pop Academy. After being accepted, she became the first student ever to finish the 4-year program in 2 years.

Tabitha has experienced her share of independent labels and management companies over her eight-year journey suggesting who she should be, but has now decided to express herself with no limits. When award-winning singer/songwriter/producer Timothy Bloom came across Tabitha on Facebook, he was so impressed that he invited Tabitha to work on music with him and join him onstage for a duet in London. The synergy was evident and for three months, they worked together to complete her debut album, No Fiction, which is set to release spring 2017.
