*At last, “The Good Wife” spinoff has been given a title.
The upcoming CBS All Access series starring Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will be called “The Good Fight,” the network announced Monday. As previously reported, the first episode will air in February on CBS before the entire 10-episode season moves to CBS All Access as its first scripted series.
Additionally, “Justified” alum Erica Tazel has been added to the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Picking up one year after the events of “The Good Wife” series finale, “The Good Fight” centers on an enormous financial scam that has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, Diane Lockhart’s (Baranski) goddaughter Maia (“Game of Thrones’” Rose Leslie), while simultaneously wiping out her mentor’s savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, the pair join Lucca Quinn (Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.
Tazel will play a partner at the same Chicago law firm as Robert Boseman (Delroy Lindo), who begins poaching Diane’s associates and clients when she gets into financial trouble. Tazel, whose other credits include Roots and NCIS, is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and John Carrabino Management.
She joins a cast that also includes Sarah Steele, reprising her recurring role from the original series, Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters.
Production on the spinoff began Monday in New York City, with longtime “Good Wife” executive producer Brooke Kennedy tapped to direct the premiere.
