57 Years – Which Way Independent Nigeria?

Nigeria at 57 - EURWEB

*Nigerians generally are not quite happy where Nigeria is today as it seems to take two steps backwards after taking steps forward several times in its 57 years of independence from being under British colonial rule.

The nation has produced internationally, the very best of successful Nigerians around the globe who continuously contribute to the economies and history of other nations, be it in soccer, music, sports, education, creative arts, comics and cartoons, architecture, fashion, religion, politics, medicine, movies, finance, and in various other professions.

They are not in the vicinity of Boko Haram and the trouble maker who is trying to open the healed wounds of the 1966 Biafra war. Nigeria’s only civil war and hopefully her first and last. What gets Nigerians going is the belief for a better Nigeria.

This Oil rich and most populous nation in Africa (180 million and counting) has come a long way and there is room for improvement and for her citizens to be properly looked after adequately.

The nation’s national cake should be for all and not for a few. This can be said of so many other countries as well. Nigerian leaders cannot afford to fail Nigeria or allow it to be divided.

To keep Nigerian one, is still a task that must be done. Above all, there is hope. Happy anniversary to the giant of Africa. Or is it?
