*People across the world love skateboarding. In fact, 11 million people self-report that they enjoy skateboarding on a consistent basis.

Those skaters range from teenagers just having fun to multi-millionaire celebrities. One of the most vocal fans of skate culture is also one of the most influential rappers over the last 15 years: Lil Wayne.

Wayne, though a big fan of skateboarding, has had some trouble recently on his board. According to IOL, the 28-year-old rapper was hospitalized after a skateboard accident in late August. Wayne needed nine stitches to repair a wound above his left eye after he crashed hard at a skate park in St. Louis, Missouri.

“The Lou was good but I busted my fuggin head at the sk8park!” Wayne said via Twitter. “9stitches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people.”

Unfortunately, the skateboarding accident was just the latest medical problem faced by the rapper. This September, Lil Wayne was hospitalized after a series of seizures forced him to take a break from touring.

But despite Lil Wayne’s skating mishap, he’s actually a pretty talented skater.

According to Highsnobiety, Wayne looks like a pro in the new video for “Loyalty.”

Wayne was skating around during the video and looked quite competent on the board. As he went up and down the mini ramp, HoodyBaby and Gudda Gudda delivered their rap verses. Just when the song and video are winding down, Wayne, staying true to form, hops off his board and rips into the last verse of the track.

In addition to loving skateboarding, no matter how dangerous it might be for Wayne, the popular rapper has always shared a love for his hometown, New Orleans.

Last year, Wayne even donated ramps and equipment to skate parks across New Orleans.

“We love skateboarding and we love the city of New Orleans,” said OC Ramps Inc. officials, the team Lil Wayne partnered with. “We have nothing but love for the skaters out there and hope they continue to enjoy the skate obstacles as long as possible.”
