Tyrese Warns Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Against ‘Fast & Furious’ Spin-Off

*Earlier this year it was announced that Universal is planning a “Fast and the Furious” spinoff film centered on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters.

Rolling Stone reported that the spinoff ‘will continue the unlikely union between Johnson’s federal agent Luke Hobbs and Furious 7 villain-turned-Fate of the Furious ally Decker Shaw, played by Jason Statham,’ and it would arrive prior to the ninth installment.

But “Fast & Furious” actor Tyrese Gibson is not here for it.

He took to Instagram to call out The Rock for potentially moving forward with the spinoff.

fast and furious

“The Fast and the Furious” has become Universal’s biggest franchise of all time, currently the sixth highest-grossing film series of all time with a combined gross of over $5 billion.

Meanwhile, you recall how Johnson and franchise star Vin Diesel previously settled their feud that erupted on the set of “The Fate of the Furious.”

The feud began when Johnson posted an Instagram criticizing some of his male-co-stars as being “candy asses.” There were even reports hat the two were kept apart on the press tour and that Diesel had cut a fight scene featuring Johnson.

But sources revealed to TMZ back in April that the actors met privately several times and are “good” and “1000% in” for the next movie in the franchise.

Sources said the conflict was about which actor received more screen time, but eventually Johnson acknowledged that Diesel is the true star of the film.

The ninth installment of the franchise is set to be released on April 19, 2019.
