D.L. Hughley Reveals Cosby ‘Rape’ Argument That Radio Station Buried

*D.L. Hughley recently chopped it up with Vlad TV and revealed a heated argument he had with Bill Cosby in 2009 over Cosby’s rape rumors. The spat went down while Hughley was a DJ at Kiss-FM radio station, and resulted in Bill threatening that their conversation would never air.

In the clip above, Hughley explains that the incident went down when Cosby called in for a radio interview, and because he knew Bill wasn’t a fan of his raw style of comedy, he remained silent and allowed his co-hosts to lead the interview. Cosby immediately started talking down to them and being rude so that’s when D.L. stepped in and this is what he says happened next:

“For 5 minutes straight he was being a dick, I was like, ‘Mr. Cosby what is to you’d like for us to know?’ […] He said “D.L. Hughley! You say nigger and I don’t like your comedy!” And he went in and I was like, ‘With all due respect Mr. Cosby, I say nigger, but no co-worker has never woke up with her drawers on backwards.’ […] I said ‘Everything you are, you are because of your experiences and I appreciate that. But you’re not gonna denigrate what I’ve been through.”

D.L. then explained that at the time, the radio station was owned by Emmis Communications and apparently, Cosby had major influence there. Because of this, Cosby threatened D.L. that their pre-recorded interview would never air.

“Bill Cosby was [like] ’That tape will never air’ … and I said ‘The f*ck it ain’t!’ And 10 minutes late ALL the people from [Emmis] Communications came down, took the tape and made sure nobody else in the room had copies of it; and said “If this airs, nobody in this room will ever work again.” So I know that that cat had the power to make people do sh*t like that.”

Hughley also claims “everybody knew it” around the L.A. comedy scene long before this incident with Bill. And by “It” he is referring to Cosby’s reputation for drugging and “sexually abusing” women.

“I grew up in L.A., did warm-up for a lot of those shows, everybody knew it. … Like, ‘Cliff Huxtable’ is innocent, but Bill Cosby fu*ked every one of them girls.”
