*Fox is hoping to bring some of the directing magic from BET’s beloved “The New Edition Story” to one of its own performance-filled dramas.

Chris Robinson, who directed all three installments of the BET miniseries, has signed on to direct and co-executive “Star,” according to Variety.

“The New Edition Story” broke ratings records for the cable channel. Among Robinson’s other credits, he directed the pilot for the Amazon series “The Climb,” the 2006 film “ATL” and multiple episodes of the comedy series “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”

As a music video director, Robinson received a Grammy nomination for his work on Nas’ “One Mic.” He has also worked with artists like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige and Eminem.

“Star,” currently in its second season, finds Star (Jude Demorest), Alexandra (Ryan Destiny), and Simone (Brittany O’Grady) preparing for their next career move, with help and guidance from Carlotta (Latifah), the group’s new manager.
