*When Nike completes its campus expansion in 2019, a new building on campus – its largest yet at 1 million square feet – will be aptly named for tennis maven Serena Williams, according to the WTA.
Serena’s longtime sponsor announced the names of four new structures in its Beaverton, Oregon campus expansion, and one of them will bear the name of the former World No.1.
“[Serena’s] record in tennis majors — an unmatched 23 singles titles — solidifies her stature as one of the greatest athletes of all time and one of the most inspiring people in sport,” Nike said in a press release.
Slated for completion in 2019, the Serena Williams Building will be the biggest structure at Nike’s World Headquarters at more than 1 million square feet covering nearly three city blocks.
In the meantime, Serena’s first order of business is preparing her return to tennis in 2018 after the birth of her daughter Alexis Olympia on Sept. 1.
