After the songstress flubbed her “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” performance last year and blamed it on an inability to hear the music through her earpiece, DCP has always maintained that Carey’s absence from sound check was the real problem.
Welp, it won’t be a problem come Sunday night.
For her redo at “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018,” DCP has made Mariah’s presence at sound check mandatory.

Last year, Mariah didn’t want to be bothered with a full-on sound check. She had a stand in for part of it.
As for how this performance got booked, our sources say both sides wanted it. Mariah is determined to show the world she’s up to the task, and the folks at DCP know ratings will spike because no one is discounting the possibility of another train wreck.
