sterling k brown - sag award speech

*Did you see it? In the process of delivering his acceptance speech for SAG’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Morgan Freeman had to let someone know they were intruding on his time and space, so to speak. We’ll tell you and show you how it went down.

But FIRST …

At the SAG Awards on Sunday evening, “This is Us” star Sterling K. Brown found himself accepting another award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series. Amazingly, it means he is the first black actor in SAG history to win the award

“What a blessing it is to do what you love for a living. What an honor it is to be recognized by your peers for a job well done. This room is a source of endless inspiration for me. I love all of you,” Sterling said on stage.

“People call us weird and strange; the truth of the matter is everybody’s weird and strange, and we just embrace ourselves for who we are.”

Brown, 41, also thanked his wife and cast, and his “white family” on the show, which he joked is “nothing like the family from ‘Get Out.’”

He beat out Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) and Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) for the award.

Brown is definitely on a serious history making roll this award season. Earlier this month at the Golden Globes, he also became the first Black man to win best actor in a drama series.

Congratulations, Mr. Brown.

And since we’re congratulation folks, another is due for one and only Morgan Freeman. He was honored by SAG with the Lifetime Achievement Award. However, while making his acceptance speech, Mr. Freeman had to check someone in the front row who wouldn’t stop talking as he began his address.

The legendary actor didn’t let it go — if anything, he dragged it out by saying …

“Hey … I’m talking to you. Yeah, hey.” He finally finished with … “Okay, well you just stand out to me. That’s all” before continuing with the rest of his speech.
