*Known to many as the guy who popularized the man bun, Brock O’Hurn has recently become a staple within the Tyler Perry universe.

O’Hurn gained international fame through his Instagram account where the long-haired beauty was recognized for his height and physique.

He teamed with Mr. Perry in 2016 for the comedy-horror “Boo! A Madea Halloween,” making his acting debut as frat boy Horse. He reprised the role in the sequel “Boo 2! A Madea Halloween,” which arrived on Blu-ray and DVD Jan. 30.

“There’s going to be a lot of hilarious outtakes and deleted scenes that weren’t in the actual film,” O’Hurn told EUR/Electronic Urban Report. “If you thought the first “Boo” or the second “Boo” is funny you have to see these outtakes because some of my favorite moments that we had on set I never even saw in the film, where we were just crying laughing. So I can’t wait to see them in the DVD.”

When it comes to the horror genre, O’Hurn, who also stars in Perry’s television series, “Too Close to Home,” told us that he has a “tough time getting scared, even when I go to haunted houses during Halloween. People always kind of avoid me. I think maybe because I’m big they don’t want me to attack them or something, so when I watch movies it’s a little hard to get scared. But every now and again I’ll find one that’s just amazing like, “The Shining” and “Boo 2.” I think that’s my favorite.”

With “Boo 2” being of the supernatural genre, did you ever get spooked on the set?

Brock: Every now and again I would definitely get a little spooked. We shot next to a lake and every now and again there’d be this layer of smoke that would come over the lake and then you’d kinda see something and any second you kinda feel like something is going to come out of the lake. But we’re shooting in the middle of Atlanta and there’s woods all around and even though we’re on a studio there’s still wildlife and snakes, those are the real threats, but then when we start to think about the ghost and everything, it’s a whole ‘nother story.

Does the film play on any fears you have?

Brock: I’m big and tough so I don’t get scared. But there are moments when you’ll see someone pop out of nowhere and they’ve got blood all over their face and it gives you these real reactions where you’re like, “If this was real it would be a terrifying situation.” Someone chasing after you with a chainsaw. It’s not something I want to have happen in my daily life. But definitely, a lot of people on set could be scared very easily. There’s a couple of people that definitely have legitimate fear of ghosts and just being out in the woods. The potential for something to happen is just where your mind wonders.

Talk about the type of creative energy that Mr. Perry fosters on set.

Brock: He’s the first one to get there and the last one to leave. Every day we start the day with a prayer with everyone on set and it just starts off on the best note. You see from being on set that Tyler treats everybody equally and amazing and it’s such an inspiring thing to see. When he does that, it goes from one person to the next and they keep sharing that. Just being in the environment and working on his set at his studio is the most humbling, most incredibly, most inspiring thing that I can possibly imagine.

There are all sorts of stories out there about how you met Mr. Perry. I’d like to hear from you about how you two were first introduced.

Brock: We both had a mutual friend and he had mentioned him to me and I had just done the ‘Steve Harvey Show’ and then I did ABC “Nightline” and I guess Tyler saw that and he wanted to take a meeting with me. We ended up meeting and he asked me what I wanted to do and I told him I moved out here for acting. So that was our initial conversation. I was humbled and grateful to meet him and didn’t think it was going to go anywhere and then a few months later he gave me call and told me about the role in “Boo” and of course I was interested. I’ve always wanted to act and get into this realm and I’ve always been working towards that and then it actually happened. I was on set and it was surreal, like, I had stepped into my dream and it just came true.

How has being a part of Tyler’s universe helped to shape your performance and how you approach your craft?

Brock: Working with him has been eye-opening. I’ve always had that feeling that I’m going to go out and chase my dreams but it wasn’t until I met him, and now I’ve seen what’s he done, that I truly grasped that it’s all possible. For me, it went from being just wanting to act and then I saw what he was doing — directing, writing and producing — and so I recently have been working on my own stuff and I started my own production company. I shot a commercial yesterday — directed it, shot it, starred in it and wrote it. So seeing him do that, his example, it’s opened the doors for everything that’s possible. Even just being on his set, you’re around him and just hearing the way that he talks about his studio and the vision for it, you feel like you’re in this man’s imagination and you realize that it’s limitless in what it’s capable of and you go around to each one of his sets and you’re like, “Woah….”. It really opens your eyes that anything truly is possible and I think he’s the perfect example to prove that.

You gained international fame through your Instagram account. How important is social media to your career now?

Brock: For me, trying to break out here (in Los Angeles), especially being really tall, even as a model, as an actor… anything, it’s tough because there’s that dynamic where it’s, “This guy is really tall. He’s too big for the frame. He’s too this/he’s too that,” and everyone was saying “You can’t do this/you can’t do that,” no matter what I was doing. I started to see the trend was social media. So what I did was, since I’m not getting any of these jobs and no one wants to hire me, or very few and far between, I’m going to focus on what I can do, what’s in my control, which was the social media and as I started to grow it, more things started to come and I think that’s obviously a big reason why Tyler wanted me to be in the film. And I started to see that it’s not just friends sharing pictures. Now, it’s exposure and potential for jobs. I’ve heard so many people in this industry that have said that they’ll go to an audition and they do amazing and the people love them but then they ask them what their social media is and if their number aren’t high enough they’re not getting the job. So it does make a big play as far as where your career can go but it’s also just me doing what I love. It’s fun for me to share what I’m doing, where I’m going, cool pictures and stuff with friends.

Being super-fit and deliciously handsome, inquiring minds would like to know the secrets of your beauty regiment?

Brock: For me, the gym is a definite constant. It’s kinda something that just keeps me consistent and focused and I feel like every time I walk in the gym and I leave there, I’m doing something to better myself and better my life, no matter what I’ve done for that day. A lot of times I look at it as that’s the hardest part of my day. We don’t always want to get up and go to the gym, it’s tough. So I go in there and force myself to tell myself that my body doesn’t control my mind, my mind controls the body and from there I can do anything. I go every day when I can, but I say that life gives me days off. Whether it’s a travel day or a sick day or whatever it is, life gives me those days off so I try to get in there as often as possible. I just try to be well-rounded in all aspects of my life and I apply that to whether it’s my health and beauty or it’s my career. I feel like if I’m taking care of myself and eating the right supplements — multi-vitamins and biotin — it’ll all show through.

What’s next for you? What other projects do you have in the works that we should know about?

Brock: I’m actually leaving tomorrow to go do a film in Hawaii, and it actually is a horror film. The movie is called “The Resort,” and it takes place in Hawaii and there are four main leads. My character, I have a crush on one of the girls and she’s obsessed and loves ghosts and anything scary. We’re all struggling college students so I finally saved up enough to pay for this trip and we get our friends to go and I show my feelings for her as we go but through time, it shows you what we just got ourselves into and it kinda escalates from that moment on.

Is there anything else you’d like to add about the hilarious “Boo 2!” and the process through which it was made?

Brock: It’s all about gratitude, to be honest. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity. I’m so grateful to be able to meet and work with everyone I have. I’m so grateful for Tyler Perry for giving me the opportunity. It’s been an absolute honor. It’s been eye-opening. It’s been a blessing and a gift. I’m just so grateful to be doing this and doing the stuff I love and if I could say one thing to anybody it would be to never give up on your dreams and never settle for less than you deserve and to go out and chase those dreams to live them because you could fail being an accountant, you could fail working a normal job, you might as well go out and do what you love and risk it. I’m putting everything on the line. There’s no promise of tomorrow so I’m here to do what I love and I’m grateful to have opportunities.
