*Congresswoman Maxine Waters has been the victim of fake news smear campaigns Donald Trump supporters and Russian bots are spreading online to defame her.
Since she emerged as a leading voice in the Resistance against Trump, the Kremlin has made her one of their targets in the 2018 Midterms.
Twitter presented Congresswoman Waters with a spreadsheet showing the Kremlin-linked accounts that targeted her in 2017. An additional spreadsheet of Russian accounts was published by NBC News this month, view it here. If you search “Maxine Waters” or “Waters” within the spreadsheet linked at the end of the story, you will see even more evidence of Russia’s apparent interest in smearing Congresswoman Waters ahead of the 2018 midterm elections. Their efforts are already underway.

Congresswoman Waters’ Republican opponent, Omar Navarro, is allegedly engaging in dirty tricks, pushing forged documents and lies that Russian bots and Trump supporters tweet and retweet at any and every mention of “Maxine Waters.” Roger Stone (a friend of Trump and Paul Manafort’s former business partner) is reportedly advising Navarro’s campaign and he is known to engage in lies and distortions to win.
Her opponent is also being helped by former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio (who was pardoned by Donald Trump). Waters reported the forged document her opponent is spreading online to the House of Representatives general counsel who made a criminal referral to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice. Twitter was also notified.
