*Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o has signed on to star in “Born a Crime,” the film adaptation of “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah’s bestselling debut autobiography “Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.”

Nyong’o, who currently stars as Nakia in Disney/Marvel’s record-smashing “Black Panther,” will also serve as executive producer on the project.

Noah grew up in apartheid South Africa to a Black mother and white father, making him literally “born a crime,” as the book title suggests.

Trevor is set to produce the film through his Ark Angel Productions alongside Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin of Mainstay Entertainment, according to Deadline.

“When I read @Trevornoah‘s “Born A Crime,” I could not put the book down,” Lupita wrote on Twitter. “Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation!”

Noah responded to her announcement: “I’m in heaven!,” he wrote on Twitter.

First released in 2016, “Born A Crime” has won the James Thurber Prize for American Humor and two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Literary Work, per CNN.

The book is a coming-of-age story about Noah’s childhood in South Africa. His parents met when interracial relationships were illegal.

“In the streets my father couldn’t walk with us — he would walk on the other side of the road and wave at me,” Noah told an audience at London’s Soho Theatre back in 2015.

“And my mom could walk with me but if the police showed up, she’d let go of my hand and drop me and act like I wasn’t hers.”

Nyong’o next stars in Abe Forsythe’s Australian zombie comedy “Little Monsters,” and is set to produce and star in the onscreen adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s bestseller “Americanah,” which has her “Black Panther” co-star Danai Gurira penning the script.
