*Oprah Winfrey hit up Harlem on Wednesday for a taping of her “SuperSoul Conversations” podcast at the Apollo Theater.

The media mogul sat down for separate, wide-ranging one-on-one conversations in front of a live audience with actress Salma Hayek, late night talk show host Stephen Colbert, Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, actress Yara Shahidi, host Trevor Noah and actor and director Jordan Peele.

On the subject of Donald Trump, Winfrey kicked off the multi-hour event by saying, “It’s going to be OK. We have made it through much worse times than this.”

And while Colbert uses his platform to highlight and explore what he considers the flaws of Trump’s administration, he remains hopeful about America’s future.

“This is a great country,” he said, citing its perseverance through turbulent chapters of history such as the Civil War and the Civil Rights Era. “We’re based on an idea” articulated in the Constitution, he added. “If we can all agree on that one thing, America will always be the last, best hope.”

Winfrey and Noah dished about his bestselling memoir, “Born a Crime,” which details his upbringing as a mixed-race child in apartheid South Africa. As noted by Deadline, she and Noah bonded over both having grown up using an outhouse.

“You never get over that smell,” she said. He said as a child he readily believed rumors that another neighborhood kid had once fallen in. “I was sure that had happened!”

Noah said his grandmother still lives in the house he grew up in and still uses the outhouse (it has plumbing now).

“We asked her if she wanted to have a bathroom inside and she said, ‘Why would I want to do that in the house?’”

Meanwhile, as noted by The Guardian, Hayek explained why she had not been part of the Times’ initial report of allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

“[The Times] contacted me to be a part of the first story and already by this contact, there was all this turmoil and I started crying when they asked and I ended up not doing it. And then I felt ashamed that I was a coward. I was supporting women for two decades, and then I was a coward.”

“When the information about Harvey came out, I was ashamed I didn’t say anything. But I felt like my pain was so small compared to all the other stories

The special will air Tuesday, February 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and will be available on “Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations” podcast.
