*Sadly we must report the death of “Chicago Fire” actress DuShon Monique Brown after an apparent heart attack. She was 49.

According to law enforcement sources, Brown was at home Friday morning when her family called paramedics because she was feeling ill. She was taken to the hospital, where she died around noon.

Just days earlier, again, according to sources, Brown admitted herself to a Chicago hospital after suffering chest pains where she went through tests but was released a short time later.

DuShon, a Chicago native, had been on “Chicago Fire” since the show’s beginning in 2012. She played Connie, the assistant to Chief Boden. She was also on “Prison Break” from 2005 to 2007.

DuShon had a background in social work and a Masters in Counseling and once worked as a counselor at a local high school.

She also starred in a made for TV movie titled “Public Housing Unit” about Chicago cops … the project is set to premiere later this year.

Carla Stillwell, a theater actress in the city, told the Chicago Tribune the two met after college in the ‘90s.

“She was a brilliant actor, but she was also so goofy. We used to get in so much trouble from the stage managers we worked with because we were cutting up so much,” Stillwell said. “She was just a ham, and she was truly loved.”

In a statement to USA Today, Robert Schroeder, Brown’s representative, revealed the actress’ “untimely death” was sudden and from “natural causes”:

“We are devastated by the loss of a very talented and kindhearted soul. DuShon was a film, television, commercial and voice-over actress who also graced the stages of many Chicago theaters. She brought laughter and joy to many and will be greatly missed.”

“Chicago Fire” producer Dick Wolf released a statement on Brown’s death.

“The Chicago Fire family is devastated to lose one of its own,” said Wolfe. “Our thoughts and prayers are with DuShon’s family and we will all miss her.”

DuShon Monique Brown leaves behind a daughter.
