*Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are taking a step toward ensuring diversity at their production company.

The actors will adopt inclusion riders for projects made through their Pearl Street Films, according to head of strategic outreach at the production company, Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni.

“On behalf of Pearl Street Films, Matt Damon, @BenAffleck, Jennifer Todd, Drew Vinton & I will be adopting the #InclusionRider for all of our projects moving forward,” Cox DiGiovanni tweeted Monday, responding to Michael B. Jordan’s tweet from last week in which he announced that his production company, Outlier Society, would also begin adopting inclusion riders.

An inclusion rider may be included in production contracts to mandate gender and racial diversity on set.

Stacy Smith, director of USC Annenberg’s Media, Diversity & Social Change Initiative, was the first to float the idea of an inclusion rider in a 2014 guest column for The Hollywood Reporter (watch in the video above), but it was Frances McDormand who took the idea nationwide during her best actress Oscar acceptance speech at the 90th annual Academy Awards.

According to Smith, the rider focuses on improving diversity in such jobs as cinematographer, production designer, sound, 1st and 2nd AD, editor, visual effects and composer, and supporting roles that do not affect “story sovereignty” or interfere with financing or insurance.
