*The Obamas are reportedly in negotiations with Netflix for a series of shows that would highlight inspirational stories.

People familiar with the discussions tell the New York Times that the proposed deal would pay Barack and Michelle Obama for exclusive content that would be available only on the streaming service, which has nearly 118 million subscribers around the world.

The format and number of episodes have yet been decided, but sources say the shows are not intended provide a response to Donald Trump or conservative critics. Folks close to the discussions say the Obamas talked about wanting to highlight inspirational stories.

“President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire,” Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to the former president, said Thursday. “Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”

So far, no word on how much money Netflix will pay the Obamas.

Executives from Apple and Amazon, which have streaming services, have also expressed interest in content deals with the Obamas, the Times reported.
